Climbing leagues, from someone that used to be stuck in bronze/silver.
I see the usual question of, "I'm stuck in blah blah blah" pretty often. They claim how they go 30-0 every game but can't carry their games. Trust me, climbing out of bronze(especially bronze) and silver is really easy; basically child's play. As you can see, i'm currently Gold 1. I can probably reach plat if I really work toward it. But anyways, this is for me to try and help you climb onto the holy land that is gold. It's not that high of an elo, but It's what will allow you to gain a nice skin at the end of the season, along with a shiny border that isn't silver(or none in the case of bronze).
So what's the secret to achieving elo? That's right, being good at the game. Now, I'm not saying i'm a really good player, but you do have to be decent in order to climb out of "elo hell" that is bronze and silver. Silver and bronze players are not that good at the game. If you are stuck within that league, your first step to climbing is... accepting that you're bad. No, you are not better than your opponents, because if you were, you would climb.
Let's start with some basics, shall we? -Your cs score. -Map awareness. -Objective control. -Warding. -itemization. These things are really important. For example, building abyssal scepter while your enemy laner is still going for that morello. You will be at a good advantage, with the MR that you get along with it's offensive stats. Warding is also important, let their jungler waste their time trying to gank you while you sit there safely. But yeah, I'm sure you know the rest.
When I started climbing, I noticed I improved in all of those categories, and most importantly, the champ I decided to main. For me, being a one trick pony helped me in my path to achieving gold. I discovered my love for irelia, not exactly the most mechanically challenging champ in league, but really strong. She has carry potential, specially when you get a nice lead and start trashing through everyone mid-game. I learned everything I could from guides and watching challenger irelia mains. Which is knowledge I then adapted around my elo, against the players I was going against.
Knowing when to go in, what to do in certain matchups, which all ins I could win? Knowing these became natural for me. People love counter picking you with champs they OBVIOUSLY don't know how to play. (riven rarely with riven mains. Yes you're a hard counter but the bitch can still outplay you/fuck you up with ganks. Then it's hell coming back, FF@20). Teleport was a large part of my success as I could tp bot lane and turn around fights, trying my best to DONATE the kills to my bot lane. Roaming mid is also pretty easy, especially against immobile mages. You either blow a flash or you get the kill(the stun is pretty OP). If you are trashing on your opponent, roaming is easy since their poor csng is to no worry to you.
A huge part of my success though, was realizing I was bad at the game. This is a mentality I had to accept. Also, creating small goals is also good. Like being B4 and putting on a mindset that you're going to climb up to B3 is effective. Just forget about having to lose or win, if that's all you're thinking about, it's going to mess up your play because losing will plague your mind. Go in with the mindset that you will play ranked to improve, not caring about losses because you are trying to climb and you will eventually. Just keep on playing, you'll get better by simply playing.
