I'm a good player in Dota but now I'm really interested in League What are some things I should be aware of?

No denial of minions, there are bad match ups, runes make and break u, stick to the 1. 1 2 j meta. You can't leash creeps away, u can't stack jungle camps

It shouldn't take too long for you to get a feel for each champion. You don't really need to know much more than that, though more in depth knowledge is always helpful. I would suggest playing the ARAM queue from time to time, since it helps force you to play new champions and face champions that are not currently popular.

As for your mic question, Riot has no plans to add an in game voice chat. If you want that sort of thing I would suggest trying to meet people until you find a nice group to play with.

How long did it take you guys to memorize all the heroes and their skills?

The 'recall' button gives you a free TP scroll you can use whenever you want for free; everyone can buy wards (5 per person, plus the free yellow 'trinket' that can be upgraded to have 2 free ward charges).

The Summoners Rift map is much smaller than the DOTA map, so it's slightly easier to affect stuff happening on the other side of the map.

Ranged DPS is more dominant than Melee DPS (usually), so every game both teams will have a 'Marksman'

Champions have kits built around what their role is (Tank, Marksmen, Assassin, Mage) in LoL, rather than Dota 2's heroes who are built around incredibly strong abilities (subtle differentiation, i know, but i think it's true).

It will take a while to farm the IP to unlock champions and runes (runes help you play your champion in different roles); i've been playing for 3 years and still haven't unlocked every champion, since i also got a bunch of runes.

Rather than the meta Dota has (which includes an 'off-lane'), LoL has a Top (usually a fighter or tank), a Mid (magic damage Mage, or attack damage Assassin), 2 bottom laners (a ranged DPS Marksman and a Support), and a dedicated Jungler (can be variety of roles, though Tanks are popular right now).

The store is much simpler to use than in Dota; there isn't the 'Strength, Speed, Intelligence' attribute thing going on. Riot has made an effort to make the in-game shop as readable and simple to use as possible, and it shows. You should never have to wring your hair trying to find an item. There is, of course, the initial learning curve of figuring out what the items all do, but most of them don't have active effects, and the recommended items for each champion are usually very good guides for what to build.

There's no turn rates, no denying farm (in the same way at least, there are ways to pull it off), no buying back into the game, no secret shop, and no executing yourself to creeps to avoid giving a kill (under most circumstances). Those are the biggest things I can think of. You should have an easy time CSing, so just focus on doing that while you learn the finer points that make League what it is.

I was in the same position as you a little while ago. The biggest thing for me was that I could not deny things. I kept trying to...
