So in my placements I got Bronze 2 which for my first time playing didn't seem so bad. I soon got demoted to Bronze 3 after some really bad games ;-;. I have kind have been playing normals ever sense but I have questions to ask for some experienced players (Gold and above).

  1. Should I just tough through it? Aka only play ranked and eventually you might get some good games in and you will climb the ranks. Did I just have a bad time with the trollers, Afk's, feeders, ect. ?

  2. I really don't own that many champions and I only have 1 rune page. Should I grind ip and get those good champions I don't have and the runes or do they really matter

  3. Ranked teams. Should I just play teams instead of Solo Q ?

  4. I don't know but maybe ranked just isn't for me. Are there other players like that?

  5. Any general tips for enduring ranked until I get to a comfortable rank. Or just ranked in general.

Hey, I'm a plat 4/5 player (i get promoted/demoted like every other day). I can give you a few tips.

  • First of all you should definitely figure out if ranked is actually for you. It can definitely be stressful and all that garbage, so if you'd rather just play for fun you should just stick to normals, because ranked can and will ruin the game for you.

  • For rune pages, you should at least have 2: AD and AP. AD will work for most top/jg/adc's and AP will be for mid/support. If you need help figuring out what runes to actually get, I can help you out with that too.

  • If you decide that you like to be competitive, meaning you'd rather continue playing ranked, remember these few things to keep you from getting too frustrated:

  1. Don't take a loss too hard. If you lose, you lose and there's nothing you can do about it. If it's because of an AFK/troll, again, there's nothing you can do about it, just forget it and move on.
  2. Take breaks. If you're on a losing streak (2-3 games) don't keep playing ranked. Play some normals or do something else.
  3. Focus on your own gameplay. Don't worry about your teammate who played really poorly, just look at what you did: what was wrong, what was right, what you can improve on.
  • Ranked 5's isn't really something to exclusively play I would say. For me, it's sort of just a fun thing to do if a bunch of my friends happen to be on at the same time.
  • Remember that if you are good enough, you will climb. Don't blame everything on your team, if you really deserve silver/gold/plat/whatever then you will most certainly climb. When I first did ranked I got Silver 5. If you think I didn't have to deal with feeders and trolls, you couldn't be more wrong.

Feel free to add me, I can try to help you improve (I have a lot of free time) and can be sort of like a coach if you need one.

The only way to get out of Bronze is to improve. You won't climb out just by "grinding". You need to get better, because right now you're not really good enough to play against Silvers or high Bronze. The biggest thing that needs to improve is your farming. A lot of the mids that you play as should have a very easy time farming; you should be aiming for at least 130 by the 20 minute mark. Go into a custom game with no bots and try doing this solo. If you can't, continue practicing until you can. Realistically, if it's an empty lane you should be able to get 160+ without any trouble. The more you practice this, the more easily you will be able to last hit under pressure.

If you learn to farm, you will shoot out of Bronze like a rocket. Have you ever seen someone walk around with 160 farm when everyone else has like 50-60? You'd be a god.

Rune pages are also important. Champions, not so much. I mean, it is important to test a variety of champions so you get an idea of how different champions work—this will increase your ability to play against them. Don't worry about being able to play 20 different champs in ranked and DEFINITELY do not worry about making sure you buy the "good champions". Literally any champion will get you out of Bronze if you actually learn to play as them.

And yes, some people just don't like ranked and that is totally okay. Ranked is for testing yourself and finding out how you measure up against the rest of the server. If that's not your idea of fun, it would be silly to force yourself to do it.

  1. It depends on your goals (do you wanna get better? Do you some day want to reach challenger? etc..).
  2. Runes matter a **** ton early game. Try to get at least 2 complete rune pages b4 you start ranked.
  3. I would say focus on soloQ first.
  4. If you are playing this game for fun, why rank at all? Ranked can be very stressful at times.
  5. Seems like you do want to reach a certain rank. I suggest playing normals until you can win games very easily without trying too hard. When you achieve that, go play ranked 24.7 :D

http://www.probuilds.net/champions

Shows you what the pro's are using for their runes / masteries / skill order in solo Q games.

My advice is to pick 2 champs for every lane, maybe a couple flex picks, look at the pro build for those champs. Practice them for 10 games each in norms, then go into ranked. 10 games is by no means enough to master a champ, but should be plenty for you to get an idea enough to play in bronze. If you're limited on your rune pages I suggest using an adc rune page for every AD champ and an AP mage rune page for every AP champion you play. Have fun and Good luck :)

edit: http://www.lolcounter.com/ Is a good website to look at the matchups of whatever champs you are practicing so you know what matchups you're going into, if you're being countered, how to build, etc.

  1. Something I used to do when getting used to playing more competitively is that I would play one warm-up game in norms as my first game of the day, then play a few ranked games. I also used to follow a rule that if I got 2 games with people disconnecting or afk'ing in a row I would stop playing for the day, as it may be an early sign of server problems. Similarly, if I had 2 losses in a row I would take a break or stop for the day to prevent tilting.

  2. I wouldn't focus on getting OP champions because they can get nerfed any day now (so you may end up buying and learning them, then the next day they get hit with the nerfbat). It's better if you work on learning how to play a few champions you already know really well just to start. Then, as other people have said, you should focus more on building good rune pages for these few champions you know.

  3. I imagine ranked teams are a lot harder to play in because it requires more coordination. But, if you're asking this question just because you enjoy playing with more friends, then do whatever is the most fun for you! :)

  4. In my experience, people are more toxic in norms than in ranked, so I prefer to play ranked. I also enjoy a challenge and tough learning experiences. So, ranked is my home. But, like I said in the previous point, do what is most fun for you; it's a game, so just enjoy yourself!

  5. If you decide to keep trying with ranked, find something enjoyable in it and you will climb. I enjoy ranked for three things: the challenge, learning experiences (because I found that there's always a point when playing a champion in norms, I stop learning because it's not as competitive an environment), and meeting new friends/people. You can reduce tilt by joking around with your teammates and listening to music.

Those are my tips. GLHF! :)
