Maining support in bronze?
Hi there! I'm bronze 2 and I main
support mostly. I was wondering if maining support in low ELO is a good thing?

Some people try to argue that Supports have the least impact on the game, saying that, they're unable to carry. I don't find this necessarily to be true. While, it's helpful to have an ADC that knows what their doing (and ultimately will determine the success of your lane, among the ease of team fights), maining support is an excellent option for those that are new to League for a number of reasons. Namely, Support can teach you a lot about play in lanes, you're consistently in contact with three players, and sometimes four (when a jungler is present) and allows you to observe the most. Similarly, due to the fact that you are supporting, you can focus LESS on CS and more on what's going on- on the rest of the map. You can watch other players move around and get a general idea of where individuals will be going based on their current direction, time, and health. Also, this will give you a good opportunity to understand placement in both lane and team fights. Bottom lane is a difficult lane to play for new players, as there's twice the amount of people to deal with. Similarly, lots of the time, there are players whom are fighting over CS in bottom lane which can be stressful.
Often times, playing support will teach you to be patient and aware. I advocate it, though, I would also suggest learning to play another role, as you need to learn to CS as that is quintessential to your success as a player later on down the road.

I have 340 games as volibear and this past week I started focusing support/jungle to try and escape bronze... hit b4 in a few days. you CAN make a difference, but it's an all-in thing. You can't waste a second, every match, making sure to insert yourself into any situation to try and make for a positive outcome. Pain in the ass, yes...... but I'm beginning to see that it may be possible to support/jungle yourself out of plastic VI.
If you're a support main, you should be able to out support 90% of your games - usually the other team will have forced someone to play support.
And I'd recommend adding an AP poke support to your champ pool
are all very strong poke supports
The reason why you should pick one up is because poke counters kill supports (thresh, leona, etc) which is what you'll be going against most of the time.
I main support as well and I love it. Not to mention there are so many options when it comes to the champions you can play support with. There are times I will go into lane with a
or
. At the moment I'm really enjoying
. He has a crap ton of poke and his damage is not something to ignore early game.
One of the funniest supports I have seen is a
as a support. You just get to the 40% cd cap early and spam jibs in all the bushes. you will always know where everyone is.
If I were to say I had a main it would be
support. I consistently get top overall champ damage and even if you miss your q as long as you did it over a seed you still end up getting damage in. I've had games where my ADC is total garbage and still managed to win lane.
I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. I can tell you that I climbed from Bronze 3 to Silver solo, playing almost exclusively support.
is my main, along with
and
.
If you are finding that teammates aren't using the utility you provide, try playing pseudo-support mages such as
,
, and
. Become a secondary AP carry and win games with damage.
pick a single champ then master it, play it in what ever role u want and master that role. climb climb climb.
Assuming its your first time EVER playing league and that you're going to main support, maining support may be the best idea. I can only tell you this from my experience, majority of the people will fight over mid and top lane. Support is the least role anyone will fight for.
Once you start ranking higher, try looking forward to all 5 roles.
I have play support on xMarcusAureliusx from B5 to G5. I don't main support but in bronze and silver the support role has to 9/10 times get their adc fed by winning lane. This doesn't mean he needs all the kills but you need to let him farm and when you can let him pick up the kills do so. Stress when you can. I added you in game so I can teach you some over powered bot support heros that I fine will will lane 9/10 even for a bronze level player.
Hope this helps and Hope to game with you soon, xMarcusAureliusx
Play a carry top or jungle you will climb faster imo. When the going gets really tough supports have the least carry potential. You won't always have the best teammates
As a Zyra support main, I do not recommend for you to play Zyra as support. She is very squishy and difficult to master. The cc she provides is different than lets say Annie because Annie provides stuns, second best cc in the game, and Zyra is skillshots oriented.
In fact, I do not recommend maiming support in bronze. As a support, your role is to peel/ward/create opportunities/be the mother to your ADC until you get out of laning phase/exhaust the highest priority.
I'd say focus first on a champion that you want to play, and then understand why they work in a certain role. Maiming as a support leaves you vulnerable not to your opponents but your team, you rely on your team to carry. And when you make plays, you need to expect them to fulfill their end.
Learning a champion for their overall character and design is the route I took and it got me to Plat. Point is, figure out what champions you really want to play and then go ahead and do your research. Read those champion's wiki, look up (but do not copy) Mona Fire builds and read why they suggest things. Ask on the forum, when to upgrade your gold income item, what runes and mysteries to run on those champs, talk about tricks while in lane and your role during team fights.
Usually supporting in bronze is like playin mid with, lets say, another guy gettin your cs. Even if you ward, bronzes do not have a lit of map awareness so yud like t go straight ap nd get ills. You end up carryin tht way (thats th way i got iut of bronze, plyin ap lulu for days) dqmn cellphon kb dammit
Supports make huge differences in zone control, vision control and setting up plays.
However in bronze no one on your team is going to look at the map to care about your wards. Your ADC will not know how to CS, manage a wave, trade or anything so your zoning will basically only be used to stop him from dying as many times rather than real advantages. Finally, there is about a 50% chance that even if the ADC could get a double kill on a play you set up just by standing still and auto attacking, he will walk away at full health.

It's not that supports have a low impact. They impact the game hugely, just in ways that people in low elo get no use out of. Also, the skill level of bronze players is at the point where playing any assassin kind of well can grant you 1v5 pentas. That's not an option as a support.
If I was going to play support in bronze, I would just play anything with a ton of damage OR just build banner of command and push to win. Most bronze players can't end a game in under 50 minutes, I doubt they would be able to respond to you taking down towers left and right 8 minutes in.
The best Solo Q carries are Thresh and Blitzcrank, being able to completely take advantage of 1 misposition allows huge playing field for the support.
It's not that they can't carry, it's just that usually they aren't good enough...
You only see supports complaining about the role they get when 1) They didn't get their main role or 2) "ADC sucks i cant carry"
What is your definition of "good thing"
I think its a good thing, because if I jump on my smurf, last thing I want to do is support for a bronzer who lands 30% of his creeps and rage quits after getting killed to Caitlyn poke...
It's really easy to carry as support in Bronze, that's why I spammed Nami games and got out of Bronze I. Sometimes it's better to play poke supports IMO. Especially Leona, if your ADC is too braindead to proc your passive after you E and Q-ed their ADC, then you'll just lose hp because you can't get out without them winning the trade.
