Noob friendly mages?

Got my wife to play LoL (she is downloading now) and she asked me to recommend a newbie friendly mage type character. I suggested veigar and Annie, but feel like i am missing a couple that would be newbie friendly. Any thoughts? Also, she is 100% new to LoL and mobas in general.

Karma and Morgana are pretty easy to learn in my opinion. Morgana was like the 2nd or 3rd champion I learned how to play when starting League.

Morgana I started with her to help get into the game I regret nothing. She has a stun, amazing wave clear, passive spell vamp, a spell shield, a ultimate that can be used for engage and disengage, and only one of her abilities is a line skill shot(which takes some practice to get used to as a new player).

Annie, Brand and Morgana Are all pretty basic

Orianna, Lux and Karma Require a bit more combo awareness, but aren't that hard to get a general hang of.

Velkoz and Anivia Are slower combo mages with less intense combos.

Lulu and Nami Are quite damage capable support mages who will almost always have something relevant to do in any situation, Lulu more so than Nami though.

Janna, Sona and Soraka are purer support champions. Can be a bit tricky to play for different reasons, but for the most part not very intense (well, all of them can get pretty intense, but usually not for longer periods of time than most champions).

Then you have some less standard choices like Ryze or Kennen, who don't have the same straightforward mage gameplay. And also more active champions like Ahri who rely on moderately ok positioning and some relatively light comboing.

I would recommend

Heimerdinger Morgana Annie Anivia

Annie is one of the easiest champs in the game to pick up (point and click abilities, insta cast abilities), and also has some nice technical stuff to learn and grow with like microing tibbers and juggling stuns midair with your E shield.

Ziggs Lux are pretty good too. Ziggs is all skillshots, but his abilities are pretty straightforward. Lux is similar, but has a little bit of learning with her passive to optimize damage. Both have global ults which teach map awareness.

Katarina ridiculously easy champ to pick up and do well with. Especially if she's playing against newer players that will let her snowball.

Thanks for the great suggestions guys! Update on the wife playing, I started her out with lux and she did not like her, she said that aiming all the skillshots and everything was a bit too much for someone who has never played before and was simultaniously learning basics like last hitting, not dying under enemy tower, etc. I did noticed that she tends to simply right click the enemy target alot to try to kill it, so i recommended she try playing as an ADC since the majority of their damage is auto attack based anyway. She tried Sivir in her next intro bots match and loved her, so yay she didnt give up on day 1 like i thought she might!

I think Leblanc is a really fun champion to play, since it's a champ that you almost never get tired of. There's a lot you can do with her kit and you can dominate many games as a newbie once you get the basics with lb, since many newbies don't see much of her. Leblanc is squishy but she's a good champion to help your wife learn about quick combos and using quick-cast (with range indicators), and her w allows for aggressive plays and being able to return to safety. Also, I've found that leblanc's auto attack animation really helped me get better at last hitting (i was so bad at it before). -If she likes adc's more, I'd recommend Ashe. Ashe is probably the easiest to play (plus she's cheap, at only 450 ip) and her attack animations are really clean and cut. Also, a tip for last hitting under tower: melee minions are the three in the front row. Ranged minions are the three in the back. Their attacks can be seen as little shooting red dots. Cannon minions are the bigger ones with a cannon and are worth more gold. For melee minions, you should wait for two tower hits and then auto attack. For ranged, you always auto attack first, and wait for one tower hit, then auto attack. For the cannon minions, I think you wait for about 5-6 tower hits (you can left click the minion to see how much health it's at) and then you auto. :) this helped me a lot with farming under tower and I lost fewer creeps and was able to get more gold to build items quickly.

Malzahar is my favorite, but he's a tad difficult. Try Fiddlesticks?

Annie she is cheap as dirt and viable at all levels. DID YOU KNOW that you get refunded mana costs and a lower cool down if you last hit something with your q? Makes for super easy csing anD mana control.

Not technically a mage but rumble is very easy to learn, and mastering him is very rewarding.

Lux has tons of range on all spells and has very simple spells.

Brand is basically babbys first combo mage, no matter what order you do his spells in you will do tons of aoe damage.

Those are the only "simple" mages i can think of.
