So, i have a friend who recently got in to league and i was wondering how i should go about teaching him? Like how to teach him each if the roles and ad/ap and the shop and such.

For his first game, it's better to sit next to him and explain stuff while he plays the tutorial games.

Once he has finished the tutorial, it's better to start a duo bot game and let him play bot lane adc. TEACH HIM HOW TO DO LAST HITS. ADCs have an easier time to farm at low level and he has just completed the tutorial with Ashe. Play with him as a support and save his ass and give him kills and explain that SUPPORTS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO KILL and SUPPORTS ARE SUPPOSED TO GIVE ALL THE MONEY TO THE ADC. With the money, let him explore at his own pace what items to buy. OR if you are in the same room, take a peek and help him understand how to combine stuff and what works best on what champ.

Once he understands how to last hit make him buy all the 450 Ip champions and make him play support while you play ADC. He should now learn HOW TO DO SKILL SHOTS AND HOW TO WARD. Show him HOW ADCS ARE SUPPOSED TO TOWER DIVE and how ADCS ARE SUPPOSED TO KITE. Seriously, it's faster that way. Afterwards, give him the choice to specialise. If he wants adc, play duo ADC on bot lane for a while and show him how to kite and tower dive. If he wants to play support forever, fall to his knees and cover him with kittens or something because these guys are rare and valuable.

If he wants to play TANK, assasin, or AP mage, make him play a melee supp or a range support FIRST! Then after a couple games...

...If he took a melee supp (like taric) Make him graduate to Duo melee top lane v/s AI. Buy Garen. The itemizations and the melee range should be easier for him to understand. Top lane melee is also a good lane to learn how to use FLASH and LEARN GANK ROUTESbecause he can just follow you to learn how to gank mid. It's a good way to learn Jungling later on.

...If he took soraka, the AP items, and AOE skill shots should make the switch to an midlane AP mage easier. I recommend annie or lux. AP mage is harder for noobs because they are alone, have to be very aggressive, need to use flash aggressively, they need to put wards constantly and they need to be good at last hitting. So i usually leave Mid lane coaching last, you can argue that AP mages can just wait until mid game after they have bought some items to 1 hit the minions but he won't learn to do proper early game last hitting.

I would recommend waiting for lvl 30 before they start jungling.

I would recommend having experience in both top lane AND ap mage before they start playing assasins.

That's my advice. The extra effort in learning the basics of all roles may sure be time consuming but it pays off in the end as it produces a smoother learning curve and a better player in the long term. The more time you explain the basics the less frustration you'll experience later on when he doesn't undertand an important concept in a heated PVP match.

Finally, if you want to play with him on the same match, i recommend that you start a smurf account that will match his Lvl so that he's not crushed by enemy players that are the same lvl as you. EXCEPT if you need to support him in a coop v/s Ai match, in that case, take your lvl 30 character with max armor and prevent him from dying under the tower. God knows how adcs can be stupid.

Best champions to learn each role ADC: Ashe Supp: Soraka, Taric or Annie Mid: Annie or Lux Top: Garen, Ryze or Master Yi depending on what you want to play later on. Assasin: Lvl 30 master yi. Tank jungler: Amumu

That's all. Hope it helps.

teach him how the shop works, combining items etc. Other than that just let him learn on his own. You can play with him but don't "coach" him

Most important thing is to help him find his favorite champ :)

just play with him and this person will want to improve in order to impress you. therefore he will watch how you play and mimic you. but if YOU do something wrong and you know hes watching you in game then tell him that what you did isnt something he will.

Also tell him to try and get the grips with playing every champion so in each new rotation every tuesday tell him to play every champion atleast once. this will help him to understand how each champ works so he can pick his favourites and also learn how to play against every champion in the game.

Give him a long ass lecture. Then just play with him lots :D

I just spectated my friends and let him learn by himself mainly. However, for example he was rushing BT on Jinx so I told him that IE does better with the crit. Small things and playing with them giving small input really helps.
