Goldie looking for advice

Hello all. I've been playing League for the past 3+ years far more casually than I would like. My friends that started with me are in high Plat now while I'm still idling through low-mid Gold. I've been in Gold since Season 3 and am trying to look for ways to do better and to play more. I told myself that I play more ranked this season than I have before, but I'm still sitting at about 15 ranked games this entire season.

One of the ways I'm trying to branch out is by getting to learn some new champions, and hope that a few people here could help me figure out which. Currently, my preferred roles are Mid, Support and Top. As for my mains, or at least the champions I'm most comfortable on, they'd have to be Malzahar, Lux, Nasus, Gnar, Teemo (yes, really), Riven and Lulu. Not a huge pool of champions, but they're the ones I feel I can perform the best on. I've tried many other champions at least once, but a lot of them just feel very "meh" to me and I don't like playing them. I've bought and played some bot games with Yasuo, since I like how his playstyle looks, but I'm a bit uncertain on how I'll do given how much more mechanically intensive he is as compared to the other champions I main.

So, if anyone can help a casual scrub like me try to take my play to the next level I'd appreciate it very much. Thanks!

I think maybe going for different champions is the wrong path. Playing champions you enjoy playing like the ones you have listed is the key. You enjoy these guys so you wont mind putting in the time to perfect their play, and another key part to winning is just having fun which you will be doing if you enjoy the champions. If you really do want to try new champions, utility champions are always great for a team, I see you've listed Lulu, shes a great utility champ no matter where she is played(mid top supp). Another champion like her that can be played safely and that is also strong and helpful is Morgana. Her top laning is pretty decent it's even seen competitive play this split, and the spell shield adds a lot of security to teammates who want to engage or to help disengage. She provides a lot of pick potential with her Q, and when you're building a lot of AP on her she gets very very strong. I wouldn't define her as a hard carry, but she's definitely useful to a team. Honestly, looking again at your champion pool, I think they are all pretty solid picks, maybe just spend a little bit of extra time 'perfecting' them and I think you will really start to climb if that is your goal. Also is there a reason your'e not playing ranked? Anxiety of losing? 15 games really isn't enough, and it's harder to point out your mistakes when nothing is on the line if you do lose. You want to perform better and by adding a reward to doing so you'll be thinking of more things like: "okay that trade didnt go so well, what could I have done differently there?" "We can't contest this dragon right now, can we get another objective?" so on.. I don't think your basic mechanics or knowledge need that much work, youre in Gold, you have a pretty general/decent understanding of the game, It's the micro-decisions that you want to look into. Hope this helped!

next level you mean get to a higher rank or just get better?

I really don't understand what you are asking for, but to give you tips on how to climb elo,

  1. just play more games. you cant be expecting to get to plat when you only have 15 games?

  2. i would say focus on 1-5 champs ur good at even 1-3 and get good at them.

  3. warding and map awareness will help you a ton in gold
