Suggestions on how to practice for the late game?

So how do you guys work practice on late games? I'm confident on early and mid game, but late game is where chaos break loose. Often because of how unpredictable the games become at that point, I feel like I keep loosing focus on what I should do, especially since reaching late game (past 35 min mark) is not as common as having the game ending earlier, especially for a causal player like me. Not to mention that obviously in custom mode, there is no experience/gold adjustment to create a late-game-like scenario, and waiting for the late game to come is pretty much just playing the game anyway.

This is not just my problem. Plenty of times, I feel like my teams as a whole have less of an idea of what to do during the end of the game than the enemies do.

Look at the objective timers, dragon up in two minutes? Ward the area now and start grouping for it at least 30s before it spawns (takes 30s to get from fountain to drag/baron)

But yeah, generally all you do is pick an objective.. a tower, drag, baron.. ward the area, gather the team, then fight for it.

I'm a huge fan of the new upgraded yellow trinket, I get it on everyone except support since they have sightstone. Highly recommend getting it as soon as you hit level 9

Even if they have the better teamfighting comp, you can win teamfights just by having better vision

ARAM. I have something like 500 ARAM games and its great for practicing teamfigth mechanics. My friends that are in plat all played 1000+ ARAM games.

ARAMs really not that great of a way to practice because you're locked into a tight space anyway, and not all fights are going to take place in mid lane, in fact often times they're elsewhere over objectives.

I instead would tell you the only way to truly practice is to just play it, but a way to pick up tips would be to watch streamers. skilled games can often push straight into the late game with relative frequency, so in that, you get to see how others play. You can also spectate games and such to get into it. A lot of knowing what to do in late is tied straight to your champion.

Katarina shouldn't be engaging the fight, ADC shouldn't be in melee range, don't focus the freaking tank, Don't die for no reason. Try not to get caught, group unless you're a decent split pusher who can get away if you get caught. Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying ARAMs are useless for this, as they do have the benefit of being constant teamfights, but more often than not an ARAM turns into who most effectively throws their corpses at the enemy or has the best luck to get a decent comp.

How do you practice for late game? Stop giving up so easily and finish the game. So many players out there, especially lower elo players, tend to give up on trying in the game and start a surrender vote without considering the fact that players make more mistakes as the game goes on. Comebacks are possible every game and thus, every game is winnable as long as you don't give up.

When the game shifts to late game, you need to prioritize and keep track of all objectives on the map. Remember which objectives are more important than others: Nexus > Inhibitor > Turret > baron > dragon. Also, look to constantly group with your teammates and ask them to group up often as 5. Losing a teamfight late game can easily cost you the game since death timers are pretty long so its very important to be grouped and ready for potential teamfights to break out.

The late game is defined by both teams having freedom to move due to the loss of all or most outer turrets. Most newer players use this freedom to simply group up and repeatedly push mid, and while this attempt at coordination is admirable, it is not usually terribly constructive. In general, your goal should be to use pressure in multiple lanes to allow uncontested objective capture. If your opponents have a team that can likely beat you in a 5v5, this is especially important. If you are confident that you can win team fights, try to threaten objectives to force fights. In both cases, using all players on the team to maintain vision in the area you are working to control is incredibly important, as is removing any wards your opponents have in the area. All of your team should upgrade their trinkets by the late game, and you should have at least one upgraded red trinket. You should never travel far from your team or attempt to capture an objective unless you have clear vision of all of your opponents and the paths they will take to approach you.

In my experience, the main difference between successful late game teams and those who simply yo-yo up and down mid until someone loses is minion wave management. Without a champion constantly present in each lane, it is fairly easy for minions to push up to and capture objectives for either team. Make sure you clear waves before they reach your towers, and set them up so they will push against your opponent's towers (there are lots of useful videos and guides about wave management, so I will not elaborate here). Once you get one or more lanes pushing to threaten an enemy structure, you should immediately attempt to capture another objective. Your opponents will have to choose between a full defense against your team and sending one or more champions to save their structure from the minions. If you can consistently maintain this kind of pressure in the lanes, you will either outnumber your opponents as you move from objective to objective or they will lose objectives by negligence of minion waves.
