I intend to main Jinx to gold this ranked season(made it to s2) before and I figured i might as well get what advice I can. Specifically for the laning phase. Really any general advice about jinx would be nice.

Hm, let me see...

Gotta get the hang of switching between her minigun and her rocket launcher (Fishbones :P). Minigun is better for dueling, objective destruction, and farming for free; Fishbones is better for waveclear and long-range poke, but watch your mana when you do this.

In general, be careful about spamming skills because of mana, and you can play her like most other ADCs. Since she also has no re-positioning abilities, you should ward and prepare for getting ganked in advance. Your Flame Chompers can frustrate attempts to reach you, but can also be sidestepped or Flashed over, and your W's slow is packed in a relatively narrow skillshot (get good with hitting champs with it).

With Fishbones, Jinx matches Caitlyn's range and can therefore outrange most opponents, albeit to a limited degree because auto-attacking with the rocket laucher costs mana per rocket. Caitlyn's base AA range, Twitch's ult AA range, Kog'maw's ability-based AA range and Tristana's scaling AA range are the main sticking points against Jinx's rocket launcher range (other than mana; did I forget to mention?), but otherwise Jinx has the poke. Minigun's attack speed amp make Jinx a monster once she gets items.

And the SUPER MEGA DEATH ROCKET! :O

If you manage to hit your opponents and kill them from the other side of the map, then that'll make your day, but for practicality you should be somewhat closer when you fire it. If you have wards and good timing skills, it's fun to steal Dragon or Baron with it (but ONLY if the explosion will hit enemy champs near it; this needs more practice; stick to finishing off champs). Also, it's an EXECUTE; save it for when using it will kill them!

If you pull ahead and get fed, Jinx transforms from a fun & crazy madwoman into a SUPER HYPER-CARRYING fun & crazy madwoman. And instead of throwing cats at you, she throws explosions! :D

Jinx "Smile! It's called gun play."

Become a master of the flame chompers, they are ridiculously good for self peel if you place and time them properly

Know matchups and how to deal with them. Think to play something else if a leo is picked before or anything with super all in potential like her.

Get use to switching between Minigun and rockets for harassing/farming.

Learn to use your flame chompers. They really can help get you out of sticky situations.

Focus on what you need to get you rolling. Things Like outfarming and kills.

Know your role. Jinx is a tower taking MACHINE! She is amazing at taking objectives especially because of her passive. That should be your goal and get as much early gold since she scales really well.

Those are just some of the things I can think of

Alright here are some good jinx tips:

  1. Stack up your minigun passive to 3 stacks and immediately switch to rocketgun and poke the enemy champion. Rocketgun gives you higher attack range and extra dmg on your autoattack and can utilize the minigun stacks to land faster autoattacks. This is really good poke in the laning phase. Take it lvl 1 so you can control the lane better. In general, be aware of both the attack ranges on your minigun and rocketgun form because you can effectively dps the enemy by switching between the two if the enemy starts running away.

  2. When you're being chased by the enemy , drop your chompers in front of you in the direction you're running. You do this to give your chompers enough time to arm themselves and this forces the enemy to either walk into the chompers or walk around it. If you're chasing the enemy, its the same idea. If the enemy gets CC'd, drop your chompers underneath them to cc them for a longer duration.

  3. In teamfights, you usually want to fight in rocketgun form because it will deal more dmg especially if the enemy is all grouped (rocketgun makes your autoattack deal AoE) and the bonus attack range helps you kite and position better. If you're fighting smaller fights (1v1,1v2), your minigun form is better because you'll deal more single target dmg. Its idea of single dmg vs. AoE dmg that you get from both forms that makes it better to use it each situation.
