[Opinion] Do Rank Divisions help determine how you treat someone in champ select or in game?

This is purely for opinion.

Me, I'm pretty much cemented in Bronze 5, but I don't play like a Bronze 5 summoner in higher ranked games (school has a team that I play with, and I go with gold and plat players ((a few were being placed with challengers in normal que before the new season began)), and I can actually carry games in their leagues because I can get creative and know they will follow up - also, they've commented on how all they have to do is ping or say "go" and I already know what to do without a word of instruction). However, I just can't seem to get my head around the fact that Bronze 5 summoners just don't know how to follow up, and I'm finding it's changing my attitude towards them for the worse.

First, let me say that I do not judge people based on ranked, so my opinion would be that in normal que, no it does not change my attitude at all. However, in Ranked itself, I have come to demand my role if I'm in a high enough position because other people just don't play it right (I've been burned for over two months by giving it up in the spirit of team work to someone who "really wants it"). I don't get salty and I do try my best if I find myself 3rd pick or lower, but I immediately find myself scrutinizing bot lane with a negative eye (and, unfortunately, I'm usually right).

Also, I do not play with an "I'm better than Bronze 5" mentality because if that were true, I wouldn't be in Bronze. I just can't remember not to get creative because no one else will have a clue as to what to do afterwards. I do, however, know that I would be completely out of Bronze in weeks if I could que with more than one person that I know (okay, maybe not, because I know very few people Bronze or Silver, but if rank weren't an issue, then yes).

Playing against higher ranks don't really freak me out anymore, in normals or in ranked.

TL;DR: For me personally: Normal que, rank doesn't matter to me. Ranked que, you better be good if you're going to take my position or you WILL be getting tips and reprimands whether you want them or not. Also, Bronze does not necessarily mean a bad player, just one out of luck (sometimes, but not often enough).

How about for you?

  1. Do you use a summoner's rank as a form of skill level?
  2. If so, have you ever been disappointed or pleasantly surprised by their performance?
  3. Do ranks change how you talk to / view / judge a team mate (or an enemy for that matter)?
  4. If so, do you make sure the other players know it, or do you play cat style and sit back and silently judge?
  5. Do higher ranks than yours freak you out or excite you?

  1. Yes and no. Like you said it depends if I am playing ranked or not.

  2. Quite often yes, to be honest Im surprised and ecstatic when someone knows they need to get better and are throughly interested in how to do so

  3. Not at all, I assume everyone is literally me. I know my map awareness definitely needs to get better so I ping on every sight of someone in our jungle or creek and call every MIA, ping my objectives and throughly annoy the hell out of my plat friends who already know.

  4. No need to judge, like I said I assume everyone on my team is at my skill level, when they call something Im the first to rush it and pay attention to why and when they called what they did.

  5. Higher ranks do not normally bother me, I have laned against diamonds (Im sure they were goofing off) and completely wrecked them, and I have lost lane to Bronze 5. I do get rather excited when its plat 5 and up though.

If you keep running some solo que you can work on your own individual playstyle and not that of a team. It is a team game, but at low ranks its not so much about a team effort as it is get fed and run through objectives with your team.

  1. Mostly. Like I'll probably respect a Master Tier player a lot unless it's an eBay account. I probably don't get intimidated if I meet a Diamond player in a normals game. I'm pretty sure they're just fooling around, in normals.

  2. Not really. I know Challenger player must be at Faker level, but I'm probably not surprised to see them feeding or outplaying people. Everyone has good games and bad games. I remembered I've outplayed people too, outplaying/feeding happens in every bracket. Not surprised.

  3. Not for me, but for some people, yeah. Some people started to get proud after hitting Gold because "I'm top 20% of the playerbase" "At least I'm better than Bronze and Silver. I'm trying to reach gold this season, and I hope I don't be like them.

  4. I don't care about other people, will silently judge them, though 8)

  5. I remain neutral. Unless it's a Master. Or Challenger. I'll probably meet them only in normals so it's whatever, I'll get excited and prepare my anus regardless.

I don't understand why you're QQ-ing about your rank when your CS as an ADC is below 180/game... Just saying...

  1. No, i personally judge players based on their performance in game. Ranking is not an accurate representation of a player's skill.
  2. Irrelevant.
  3. Depends. If i was playing a ranked game at my elo (around diamond V), i can make calls and my allies would understand the logic behind it and follow accordingly. If i were to make the same calls at a lower elo, some players would question it because they dont understand the logic and this can disrupt the team because players are split in deciding what to do. This game is a strategic, team-oriented game so being able to take decisive, unified actions with your team are important to win the game, especially when timing is important.
  4. I never EVER make comments about other players' elo/rating in-game because making such comments can affect them and put them on tilt.
  5. For me, it doesn't matter unless its a pro player or top 10 challenger elo player because I know that I'm relatively close to master and challenger tier so they can't amaze or excite me.
