The problem with chat restriction, is once you get on it for whatever reason, its incredibly hard to ever get off chat restriction. I have 2 accounts; one is buried knee deep in a 250 game chat restriction; it goes up and down, over and over, and i never break clear of it. The other account, gets a skin for not getting in trouble. I am the same person playing both accounts. One is a model of the community, the other is considered scum of the earth. I play them the same.
Just once you get on chat restriction, you cant really break free of it. You get reported more and more for failure to communicate, and I think those count towards your chat restriction. Also, even when I get done with this 250, Ill get like 150, then like 100, then like 75, etc. Even if I dont speak to anyone. They just never end, and if you get reported during those, it goes way back up into the stratosphere again.
And, its just frustrating. For some reason, they give you more times to speak during the early parts of the game, wehre late game you start having to wait 4 minutes to speak, listening to your team cry for reports because you are split pushing or doing something, and not communicating. And, they always want to report for failure to communicate, which is stupid to begin with. When you finally get a chance to speak, and you ask them why report, or waste it on why report, they say, "failure to communicate." Because you were splitting, or trying to clear a wave, or trying to do something they didn't like, and you cant explain it so you just have to "ignore" them, to which they start crying about how you wont do this or that, report X.
That kind of report ought to be a throwaway just like unskilled, but I think it actually counts towards chat restrictions. And, it would be nice if they limited early game chatting, and gave you more end-game chatting, where talking is more important, and people wont have a fresh reason to report you for nothing, because what happens in the early game doesnt even matter to people. I routinely see some guy troll for the first 15 minutes of a game, do everything he can to throw it on purpose, rage, cuss, flame, feed, then start trying 30 minutes into the game, and people start blaming someone else, and ironically enough, the guy who made the game living hell for the first 15 minutes gets away scott free while some split pushing guy gets mass reported for trolling because the team lost 45 minutes into the game and it was his fault.
I dunno, I like the fact you get chat restricted instead of banned, but at the same time you need a clear way out of it. Because, once you get it, it comes back incredibly easy, it never ends because it goes down in a step-like pattern: 100/90/75/50/35 games, etc. And a small relapse or decent amount of reports during any of those stints pretty much completely doubles it. And really, just how toxic can you be with 15 chances to talk in a game? Not much.
My advice is to just never get on it. I got one account free and clear perfect, and one just getting wrecked by re-occurring restrictions.
