How to get out of Bronze? (Not blaming Elo Hell, asking for advice)

Hi guys, I'm kinda a noob lol player, and after finishing my placements i got placed in bronze 2 with ahigh mmr (for that ranking). However my mmr is going down because i am losing more than winning. Sometimes it seems to me that when i feed i have a good team so i screw them over and on the rare occasion that i do well, my team does poorly. I am just looking for some tips and tricks to improve play, and potentially some champions to play. I try to cs decently (usually i have about 60 cs at 10 minutes), but i get killed a lot in lane. Jungling is slightly better, but I have yet to find a champion to play. Are there any cheap (1350) junglers who are good/ fun to play? Right now i play mostly Yasuo and Irelia, and was wondering if there are any cheap junglers with a similar playstyle.

Hey, So I am bronze as well, and I was in the same boat as you when I first started playing ranked. I can tell you right now that you are on tilt, and you should take a bit of a break from ranked play. Not an extended time, but at least a day or two. The other thing that I saw when looking at your games, is that you are consistently the person who places the least wards on your team. You seem to average about 2 or 3 wards a game. My advice is for you to take a week or so, and play some normal games to work on your warding. It takes a few games to actually get used to warding all the time. I have lost count of how many times wards have saved me in a game.

Also, try out a champ like Cho, or if you want to try out top, try out Vlad. Both of those champs are really strong in their lanes right now. If you can master them, or even be confident with them, you will be able to win a lot more games.

Again, this is coming from a bronze 5. I started out high MMR in Bronze 1, and played stupidly until I hit rock bottom, and now I am just barely starting to climb out of B5.

Play a lot of ARAM and you will:

  1. Find out which champions you really like (playstyle and all)
  2. Know what a variety of champions can do (really helpful when fighting these said champions)

Also, whenever you are on a losing streak (could be 2-3 loses or more), or you just feel very frustrated, play ARAM, or take a break and do something else. Playing frustrated reduces your chances of playing at your optimal by a lot. ARAM can help you cool off in most cases.

When you lose a match, and even right after you die, and also when you win a match think about what you did right/wrong (e.g., I shouldn't have engaged i shoulda realized that we were missing someone on our team and i started a 4v5, or, I did really well to cc that adc leading up to an ace and then taking an objective, or, I did well to steal that dragon from the enemy jungle solo'ing it but when the enemy bot lane came over to kill me i shoulda realized i had flash up and coulda probably got away by jumping over the walls sorrounding the dragon). This helps you keep your cool and learn from your mistakes. it helps you keep your cool because it reminds you that when you get rekt its not all entirely because the enemy champs are OP or your team is incompetent, but because you coulda ran a better play for a better result and you will program yourself to do better in the future.

When you or your team starts doing bad:

  1. Mute your entire enemy team and any team member that is being toxic/salty. *About 1) - You should always mute the enemy team at the start of every match as anything they say or will say will not help you win. Unless they start getting toxic in chat and then you will know to camp that toxic player so he tilts and rage quits. But just mute them all. I do.
  2. Know that you are at a disadvantage so even if the enemy team might be looking to pick a fight you must be very careful to choose those fights. *About 2) - If your team engages and its a fair match engage in but if the fight turns for the worst and your all just dying, just try and escape dont try to stay because you still got 1 team member there still alive trynna fight a 1v4 because chances are you will both die.
  3. Buy items that will help you survive. This is mostly for every lane but adc which is meant to be a glass cannon. THis means get a little tanky, get that Veil to block the annie/morg stuns or blitz grab etc..

Once you find the champions you like to play best and you know which lanes are your strongest practice them. Read guides and watch videos on these lanes with these champions etc.. Learn the special techniques you can do wit hthe champion you have (e.g. Master Yi can dodge a turret shot with his Q Alpha Strike, Wukong can confuse enemy team faking a clone by just standing still, etc..). I usually check for the best rated and at the same time most popular guides on all 3 of these sites for a single champion (i would end up with like 10 guides to go through): solomid.net lolking.net mobafire.com

The main difference between pro players and us bronze (and sometimes even silver) players is that they know how to capitalize on enemy mistakes better and they take less risks. Capitalizing on enemy mistakes would mean if the jungler is wondering around ya jungle and ya see him because its warded (part of taking less risks involves in a big portion having good vision of the map) ya go f him up, because he wasnt even aware ya were seeing him there. Easy kill. Or when a lane doesnt ward well and you can easily gank them etc..

Even then though you will lose matches. Even the LCS players have an average of 60-65% win rate, so they lose like 4 out of every 10 matches they play. So when you lose just think what coulda been done better and move on, you will lose some even if its your fault or not. If you focus on playing better you will get better and you will start to climb ever so slowly and catch momentum the more you learn.

EDIT: Learn about Wombo Combos with champs, this can help you tremendously turn a game around. e.g. Wukong and Yasuo Wombo (OP af) and so on; watch vids on youtube and see how its done. Once you learn the wombo combos all you have to do is be coordinated with your team and execute accordingly and then you will jizz in your pants because the result will be that awesome. Also, not to bore you, focus objectives. getting turret is better then chasing that 1 enemy. 1 kill = like 15 minions (as far a gold goes), so you'd be alright farming in lane and then getting a few hit in on the enemy turret then chasing him down his jg. Whenever ya ace the enemy team do an objective (take down a turret, get drag or push lanes). Objectives win games. Lastly never give up, just because the teams are 5v15 (kills) and ya losing, there is always the chance that the enemy team will mess up in which time you must capitalize on those mistakes and get a chance to turn the game around (it happens so often in low elo).

I recommend taking time off from ranked to improve in normals. Play normals until the ranks shown for your opponents by a site like na.op.gg are mostly silver-gold. Do this until you can break even in win-losses with this level of opponents with all the champions you will play in ranked. Then go back to ranked.

If you are having trouble figuring out what to practice while playing normals, search for custom games with titles like 'plat vs silver' or 'platinum vs silver', join them and get wreck by plat+ players who will then usually tell you what you did wrong.
