Vlad vs. Ahri how to win?

So I main Vlad, mid and top. I can "theoretically" beat and know how to play and beat every Vlad counter there is, including Fiddle, Swain, Malz, Fizz, Riven, Ryze, etc. However, Ahri is the one champ that I just can't seem to stump, and she's not even considered strong vs. Vlad. I can dodge skill shot after skill shot, but if she lands one charm, that's it, I'm dead. She will 1/2 hp me from that one trade and if I stick around she will ult into me and point blank me with her next charm. If I leave, I'm behind and the beating just continues but worse.

Even if I'm winning the lane, every jungle gank she will get a kill almost guaranteed and it only takes one charm and bam I'm locked out of lane and losing. I have hit this matchup time and time again and never won. Yes I can dodge charms with pool if I'm quick, but her charm is 12s and pool is 26s cd. That gives her a free shot at landing one every ~12s. And of course that doesn't count if she Ults into me and charms point blank into my face which is almost impossible to pool.

I've seen guides that say stand behind minions, but her orb just melts them faster than I can push early game and soon I'm at tower with no minions and she plucking away at my tower and zoning me away from minions so i cant even safely sustain back up.

What do?

Perhaps you should get your jungler to gank pre-6 and if you feel any pressure of their jungler go ward their usual roaming grounds, now at all costs, avoid charm, seriously that's what gets most people screwed over with Ahri, however if she misses it she loses a lot of potential damage on you and if possible go in on her (without over extending) as she won't be able to do a whole lot to you.

With her being able to push faster, I'm kind of lost there, what are you building first? Because as a Vladimir player myself once I get WotA I can clear a wave with two E's at 4 stacks and that's pretty fast wave clear when you look at the CD of E.

Going back to your jungler, you said she's plucking away at your tower, that means she's WAY over extended, so get your jungler to gank her and that should have her use her ult/flash or even give you or your jungler a kill and all of these things are good.

One thing I'd really consider is rushing tier 2 boots, as the more movement speed you have, the better of a chance you'll be able to dodge her skillshots, which seems to be your biggest issue here.

Also one last thing, don't be reliant on W to avoid her skillshots, learning how to dodge her skillshots without requiring W all the time will give you a way better chance at beating her the entire game.

Anyways, hopefully this helps, best of luck on your future matchups against Ahri as Vladimir. :)

I honestly can't seem to win against Ahri either, with any champ. I'm not saying she's op, but she's my kryptonite.

I find that playing a champion lets me know their weaknesses better, so I'd recommend that. For the sake of this post, lets go over a few things that are probably giving you a hard time. (Disclaimer: While I main mid, I've only played Ahri and Vlad during free week.)

  1. Ahri has sustain in the form of her passive. A nice big minion wave being hit by her Q will probably heal her more than a Transfusion will heal you. That makes your normal poke-and-retreat tactic less effective than normal. Ahri's ball will glow green when she's ready to heal up. I suggest going all in on her from a direction that makes it impossible for her to hit minions and you with her Q when that's up. Yes, you'll take damage, but she'll miss her heal, so you might be able to come out ahead in the exchange.

  2. Rush Abyssal Scepter. Magic resist and ability power in one package is tempting enough, but then you go and reduce Ahri's magic resist at the same time? I think it's too good not to rush in this match up.

stand in your minion wave so she cant hit charm, when there's no minions you have your pool if you can't dodge charm manually. Also if she ults in your face the charm will still be delayed until after she's done dashing so just pay attention to her movement , it shouldn't be too hard to react if you know she's gonna go for you. Now she'll be without ultimate effectively rendering her useless for 110 seconds
