HoC Gold League Playing looking for LoL Mentor
To preface this, I think it may be appropriate to state a few things and then cut to the chase. Some of you may be familiar with Heroes of Order and Chaos, a somewhat popular MOBA very similar to League of Legends only created for Android and iOS and adapted for smart phone / tablet play using a virtual joystick and touch-screen icon abilities. Other than that, the concept is exactly the same. The larger, 5 v 5 map, Rift at Sinnskald is almost the exact same layout as Summoners Rift except for some key differences which I will discuss later on as part of the reason why I am requesting some mentoring.
First, I'd like to point out the major similarities between these two MOBA games. I have played HoC for about 3 years now. The ranking system is the same except without so much focus on the esports aspect of the game (as it is not that big yet nor does is it really formatted / balanced for live competitive gaming) there are 3 different maps to play on (4 different modes). A 3 vs 3 map that is similar to Twisted Treeline without the altars but with more jungle buffs. A 5 vs 5 map that is similar to Summoner's Rift but with a much smaller jungle and only one neutral creature provides buffs for the whole team. There is a dragon on both maps, but the dragon only provides a physical attack buff on the player who landed the last hit so therefore, jungling isn't as 'big' of a thing on HoC because neutral creatures don't offer as much, though we still have junglers and ganks still happen at the river.
All these concepts (jungling for buffs, needing buffs to solidify the win) for me were new when I started out. I had no idea what draft picking was, why people were all about jungling and attacking the dragon and, on the other side of it, those that played League that started playing HoC would go to the Dragon and other neutral creatures calling for the team to fight them as if it were the same as League.
I would like a mentor, regardless of rank (as long as you have played long enough to be able to share your experience), or champion choice, to teach me some small things that will help me complete my transition from playing HoC and being so used to the layout of that game are:
- Major gank / first blood points on SR and how to counter / react to them with wards and maneuvers. I have watched videos to understand better but I can't say that I've had a good enough experience on SR thus far where I've walked away with more knowledge than I had before.
- How to 'properly' build AD and AP. I learned this on HoC and the items are VERY similar BUT there is far more complex math involved with what people refer to as 'good' and 'bad' builds than those on HoC. I'd really like to understand why some items are preferred more than others on some champs and why some people choose to go one route vs the other and what kind of situations call for such changes in builds.
- Proper positioning in SR and any map really. This is a big one. There was not as many 'fog of war' points on HoC so getting used to the difference in visibility has really hurt me in games and I find myself overextended when I thought I was going to be alright.
- Any other tricks and help you can offer through playing games with me, whether they're PvP, Co-op, ARAM, or whatever.
I am currently trying to find champions that I like and have found that I work well with
and have been practicing a lot with
, Orianna has helped me learn to juggle some more complex champions and I have been choosing her a lot in games to learn from experience how her skills work as a support champ AND a mage. I would like to experience playing more tanky champs, but even on HoC I only found one tank I liked to play and could play well. I am willing to try any role that will compliment your choices in game.
If you are interested or have any questions about what I'd like to gain from this, please feel free to add me in game and state that you're responding to this thread. SN: Bikini Bandit I have TeamSpeak and Skype and am willing to DL your preferred method of communication. I am online at several points during the day (EST). Thanks for checking this out :)
