The best support champ

Hello! I'm decently new to league of legends and the past couple matches I've been playing sona to support and heal teammates, it's been going well it seems that many team players enjoy having a support to help keep their health up, I was just wondering is there a better (in anyone's opinion) support character?

Braum and Janna are the two strongest supports right now.

Want tips on them?

Feel free to ask questions :)

They each have their role, and do different things. The best thing is to just have them all, and then ask "What does the team need"

Sona is my favorite support. I had a 70% winrate with her for quite some time, and her ult is pretty good, but shes very susceptible to ganks, and isnt great for peeling team mates. I love being a lane bully by poking the enemy into oblivion, but I'm also faced with the situation that I'm the only one that ever peels, so Lulu is what I play these days

Thresh Thresh Thresh Enough said

The most versatile is Thresh, though he doesn't have heals in his kit. Q, E and R have amazing CC. W gets your ADC out of bad situations quickly (they have to click on it though). Thresh basically works with every ADC because he has safety for them, he can harass with E passive and if he wants to be aggresive he has the tools to be so. His inability to heal is compensated with item 3302's passive. However it isn't a must because Thresh can make good use of item 3069 and item 3303's passive. Generally you take either Relic Shield or Ancient Coin depending on your team's composition. He gets really tanky late game because of his souls passive.

Leona is probably the tankiest support and has minimal mana costs. She is super aggressive and great for locking down targets, she is not impeded by minions because her engage ability damages as well as passes right through them. However she suffers heavily if she has to play passively because she has no innate sustain for herself or her ADC, which is why item 3302 is a must not just for the heals but because Leona is designed to receive the most damage no matter what, she can't avoid it if she wants to do her job effectively. She has an AoE stun but overall her CC doesn't last as long as other CC Tank supports but she has a really disruptive kit.

Braum can't initiate fights as well as Thresh or Leona but he still has strong CC. The gameplay is to stack your passive onto as many targets as possible in fights prioritising the ADC or the carries to be stunned first. His unique shield (E) ability counters a lot of long range ADCs and counters sieging. His shield lets him block anything for his ADC, it stops projectiles as it hits his ice shield. All of Ezreal abilities can be blocked, All of Draven's offensive abilities are blocked, Caitlyn's Q and ultimate can be blocked. The first ability that hits you deals 0% of its damage arguable making Braum the tankiest of all supports. His ultimate has incredible disruption. Targets hit around Braum when he casts it are all knocked up, the first target hit by the fissure along the ground receive a weaker knock-up and its slow is strong enough to easily catch them with your Q/passive. His W also makes him one of the more mobile tank supports. He has no sustain so again, item 3302 is core.

Bard is reserved for the most skilful of players because of his relatively situational stun proc and general inability to CC train targets. Part of his CC is his passive where you need to autoattack to slow them with it. His W gives a very noticeable movement speed boost and decent heal when left on the ground after 10 seconds but no where as strong as Soraka's or Sona's. His E allows him to flank targets and reposition really really well in fights and it can be used to play mind games against enemies by making them take it and surprising them at the end with your whole team or you simply stunning them against the wall. This stun is generally more powerful than any other of the supports because it's harder to pull off and Bard has a lot of movement utility in his kit. His ultimate can be used both defensively and offensively by locking down targets, stopping tower autoattacks and eliminate anything out of existence for a few seconds, like Dragon or Inhibitors or towers. You can stop objectives from taking damage with it and it can be applied on anyone. Noticeably difficult support though.

There isn't really a "Best" support champion. It's really going to boil down to how you like to play and what your strengths and weaknesses are. This...is a rough guide. Most can do 2 or 3 things or need several skill sets to be good with. This is just a general strengths list for champions in what they excel at and what is probably the most important skill to have with them.

What you like to do If you like to Poke and bully the lane and have some CC to help peel go with: Annie Karma Lulu Sona

If you like being the team engager and helping tank go with: Leona Alistar Nautilus Taric TahmKench Thresh

If you want to heavily peel for your team: Braum Janna Nami

If you want to get picks on enemy team go with: Blitzcrank Morgana

If you want to play a healer: Soraka (seriously she plays very differently from other supports but oh so fun!)

What you are good at If you are good with skill shots: Blitzcrank Karma Morgana Thresh

If you are good at positioning: Braum Janna Soraka TahmKench

If you are good at Trading: Annie Nami Sona Lulu

Good at knowing when to go all in: Leona Taric Alistar

If you are good at roaming: Bard

(Bonus): Sona, is actually really really weak at healing. If you want to be the healer of the team pick up Soraka. You will need to be spot on with your positioning and warding though because she is super squishy and has no escapes.

Janna xD. She has high mobility and it teaches you how to manage your mana as a support.

Sona teaches you how to play poke mages as well as morgana.

Thresh and leona, and blitz allow you to learn engage supports, tho I would avoid thresh until you are acquainted with blitz.

Braum is an engage/poke support that should teach you positioning, but so will playing the other supports.

Adrian says Soraka for all the Free LP lol.
