I have been losing ranked games left and right and it already cost me Silver IV. I don't know what else I can do besides practice or focus on the game. I know the general tips like be nice to others or mute salty people. I would like some good tips on how I can rank up. Thank you!

Hey, my name is Jam Nuke.

I play on NA and recently I have climbed from Silver V to Gold V, I may have some tips for you.

Here is my LoL king: http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/46992682

Focus on yourself.

I know it can be hard if your bot lane is feeding or your jungler isn't ganking, but don't think about them, you can't change the way they play. What you can do is change the way you play. Warding up more and getting more vision that is safe to get, focusing on CS'ing and pinging MIA if your lanes aren't map aware are all example of trying to help your team if they are struggling, if you really do deserve to move up, you can do a lot more to try and carry your team, but, contrary to popular belief, some games just aren't possible to carry, because you and your team weren't playing well enough.

_ People under estimate the power of CS_.

You could be 0/2, but if your laner couldn't snowball of other lanes and failed roams then you would've built up a massive CS lead, and they won't expect that power spike, because lower levels hardly ever look at their laners item builds and if they have snowballed a lead, practice your farming, try and get ahead, if you are a few waves up in CS and they aren't too far ahead in kills, you still are in the game, don't give up.

Practice with someone slightly better than you.

This is an interesting one, play with someone who is slightly better at the game than you, and player normal/ranked, whatever you are comfortable with, you will be matched with other people slightly better than you, this is a very good challenge, this will make it easier for you to figure out what you aren't doing so well at compared to them, maybe you aren't as good at CS'ing, item build is wrong or blindly followed maybe, or just your positioning in lane makes it easy for your opponent to pressure you out of CS, all of these things could be just what is holding you back from high silver. Analyse your games afterwards as well, this will make it even more easy to see where your slip up's are.

Lack of/ Incorrect runes and masteries

These are so important, yet over looked by so many players, the difference between winning or losing your lane early could depend on the runes and masteries that you have, always remember that you can customise mastery pages in champion select, don't bother getting MR if their team is all AD! Customise your rune page to not only suit your champion, but to defend against the enemy.

Getting a full set of generic tier 3 runes are paramount, especially as you get higher ranked. You get 2 rune pages for free, USE THEM, and use them effectively, use a generic page if you lack pages, e.g AD + AS page if you play a lot of ADC.

Widen your champion pool and learn the basics of each role, but stick to what you know in ranked.

Nothing is more awkward when you are last pick and you are left with that role that you just have never played before. Learn the basics of every role and get a feel for all of the play styles and general or common situations you will be in. You don't have to be amazing at each role, just get to know each one.

Have a couple champs that you get to learn and are fairly good at for each role, just in case one is banned out, or is picked by the enemy.

For example for each role I have 3 champs I have established and are comfortable with.

Top: Gnar Vladimir Wukong

JGL: Master Yi Elise Rek'sai

Mid: Annie Lux Katarina

ADC: Sivir Kalista Draven

Support: Nautlius Thresh Annie

So those are just 5 tips that came off the top of my head, good luck ranking up and feel free to add me in game.

What roles do you play? I can state some general tips to help out those in lower elo.

TOP/MID/ADC - Remember just how key your farming is...make concerted efforts to track your farm at 10/20 minutes and how you're matching up to your opponent. Gauge your opponent...he has ignite...don't play aggressive on him if you don't have a good lead in items and health...keep track of his CS and items and gauge if you have that damage lead to make a play. Don't just rely on your support/jungler to ward...it's your job too...and a good ward can and will save your life. Upgrade your totems...in a solo queue game...honestly don't bother with a sweeper...guaranteed vision is better than the possibility of vision denial...so get that yellow trinket and upgrade it.

Jungler - never forget to farm. Too often people play the ganking game and waste too much time trying to set up a gank or jumping from gank to gank and failing and eventually falling behind. Farm your camps...but also don't get tunnel visioned on doing nothing but that. Sometimes it's better to be seen in a lane even if you know the gank will fail...it'll get in their head and force the enemy to play a little more cautious. Additionally...don't gank a failed lane. What I mean by that...is if you're 10 minutes in and your top lane is 0-3 and behind 30 CS...don't bother ganking his lane. Tell him to play safe and tower hug...it's better for you to attempt to get one of your other two lanes ahead then waste effort oon making attempts to get someone to catch up. They can catch up later via proper farming.

Support - get that sight stone...don't just pick a champ like Rengar support...don't be that guy. Vision is your friend...if you're on a playmaking support...Thresh...Annie...Morg....Blitz....roam. You get an early lead...your opponents back...roam mid...ping and attempt to make a play...you don't need to get a kill or assist...if you get a bind or a grab and get their mid down and force them to back...that's a win. Learn the difference between offense and defensive wards. If you have a little lead...get those wards deep in the enemy jungle. If you're playing an aggressive support and you have a lead...deny deny deny. Get in front of that minion wave and block out the enemy team to deny them CS and XP.

Something I frequently do is dodge games where I feel my team does not have a high chance of winning. Explanation time!

Winning a lot means the system will frequently match you up with more experienced individuals who have a higher MMR. If your team is likely to beat them from team select, play it. Win it. Once you win it, you'll be faced with teams that have a higher MMR. If you can continue to win against them, the system will keep doing this and will continue to raise your MMR. Now, dodging a game means you lose LP. It's only 3 LP. If your MMR is higher than whatever division you're in (and it should be if you're frequently winning), then dodging doesn't matter too much. You'll win more LP, because the system is trying to boost you up. For example, I have a 55% win rate in ranked. My MMR is two divisions above where I'm currently at. I win between 25 - 35 LP a game. I only lose less than 15 for a match.

An interesting thing I've learned a while back is that contrary to popular belief carrying isn't just about getting as many kills and cs as you can once you have a lead. Oftentimes when you get a lead in lane but the rest of the team is doing poorly, the best thing you can do is get the rest of you team kills and pressure. Roam, give away kills to the adc/top/mid laner. It will cause your lead to even out but will also give your team a chance against theirs.

If are uber strong and your team is uber weak then to win you just have to play perfectly and not die. If you die then the other team gets shutdown gold and then can do whatever they want to your team. So giving your teammates a second chance is more likely to succeed, even if it doesn't feel as great.

Instead of automatically muting salty people, listen to what they have to say - they might have insights about how you're messing up.

Think your just tilting. You should just take a little break. Come back play a couple normals then go back to rank when you are confident and ready.
