Is Azir still viable in the current patch? (5.15)

Hi everyone,

I've recently been wanting to pick up Azir, because He seems like one of those really tough to learn champions that come with a high reward if you're able to master them completely.

My main question is: is Azir worth playing if you're mechanically skilled enough, and willing to put in the time and effort to perfect his kit? I'm just not too sure because whenever I play against an enemy Azir in mid, I usually win the lane. Although I'm not yet in ranked, I feel that I could start to learn him at my current level, so that by the time I reach ranked, I can dominate my games.

What are your opinions on Azir?

Yes azir is a champion that is high skill capped and can do a lot for his team so if you want to try and learn him then go for it. Also normals is where people go to learn champs and roles so its not always the best indicator if a champ is good or not.

Azir's laning phase is simple. WQ WQ WQ WQ WQ poke all day every day. Where the trouble begins is the teamfighting. To be effective, the player has to be able to pull off some drifts and use the ult not just for his own benefit, but also for the benefit of his adc. If played well though, Azir is a lane bully that hyper scales into a dps monster, which is why he gets 1000 nerfs every patch.

He is most certainly viable, though you'll have to put time into him. Playing Azir isn't just about mastering the champion, you also need to have a lot of the basic League of Legends skills to do properly: positioning, kiting, pulling off combos, decision making, etc. The difference between a bad Azir and a good Azir is very large, and to overcome it you'll need to improve your mechanics as a whole and not just be a better Azir player. If you're good, you'll have the highest damage output of your team in every single game, if you aren't (which you'll definitely have to expect when you start picking him up) you'll find yourself obsolete and thinking to yourself "this champion sucks, he must not be viable!" Look at the series between TSM and TL, the team that got Azir won every single game and Azir had the highest damage output in every single game.
