Can I get some help, I'm a support main.

I am a proud support main... but my main is Kayle. I get a whole lot of flack for this but have yet to have anyone intelligently tell me what is wrong. Before the 1:50 mark I usually have to listen to the mid or top call me trash for picking Kayle. Why is this? I do really well in game, I know when to use the ult and W and when not to. I rush sightstone and CDR boots then build Nashor's Tooth while I plot out the rest of my build path to help my team. I know to get locket if the team needs the MR and shield and to get Rylai's Crystal Scepter if we need the CC more.

Is the rudeness of my team just due to the current meta? If so what is the current support meta?

People are just afraid of picking off-meta picks, for several understandable reasons:

-They don't know how to play with this pick -They don't know if you're trolling (not saying that's your intention) -They're rude

Most people, especially in ranked, would rather you pick something that they know works. It's understandable they'd be worried, but I'm not saying it's an excuse for flaming you.

I personally haven't tried Kayle support (I also main support), but if anyone can give you tips it's probably going to be Shakarez. http://www.lolpro.com/guides/kayle/133-kayle-build-guide-support-by-shakarez

Not sure if he does it anymore, though.

My current feel towards off meta supports such as Kayle would be as follows. Your adc probably has no clue how to play with a Kayle support and that puts them at a disadvantage. A lot of the meta supports have either engage, counter engage, or disengage in there kit. Kayle does not, this puts your team at a disadvantage or forces a carry on your team to run a engage champ ie malph instead of fiora. The meta and most people expect something out of each role and non meta picks normally must destroy in lane or normally aren't a great choice. Think about morde, if he goes even in lane and his team doesn't know to get dragon control the off meta pick will probably lose there team the game.

Kayle support was one of my first supports, but she doesn't actually work too well nowadays. Her harass is short range and mana costly (plus she got nerfed), her damage is low without items, and her utility is low. So generally speaking, she is at the bottom tier of "support" champions.

Basically, if you want to do damage/heal/save allies, there are much better options. You are honestly hurting yourself trying to play her as support, and she simply won't work at higher elo ranks.

Believe it or not kayle in my opinion is the most versatility of all champions. She can go in any lane and do well. Go top, middle, adc, support, or jungle, you can instalok kayle and say "fill or feed" and not break the meta. She is that versatility. I don't know why your teammates are giving you crap, thats just not right. Unless you play her in ranked. I'm sorry, i'd rather want a traditional support than a off pick like kayle. Can she support? yes, but others do it better.

Some weak points on Kayle are: No Hard CC Mana starved early on Not very tanky for a melee champ Ranged attacks "splash" and push the minion wave Item dependent late game

She does have strong points though. Her targeted CC hits moderately hard early game can cannot be dodged (so even the best Kalistas cannot dodge this ability). Her ultimate comes in handy when an enemy assassin shows up. Her heal (with a speed boost) is idiot proof, so even the dumbest of ADCs can utilize these buffs when you cast it on them. And Kayle can poke enemies down and shred their defenses with her passive.

Overall Kayle is what you call the best "jack of all trades" champion. She is the only champion who can fill every single role in the game and still contribute to the team in a meaningful way. So when the team is falling behind or your ADC DCs for an extended period of time Kayle has an itemization set at the ready to handle the situation. But being a jack of trades champ has some draw backs. She's good at everything but she is great at nothing. She gets outclassed by nearly every "meta" champion. So keep this in mind that your versatility as Kayle comes at a cost.

As a support main for 3 years now, I've experienced the same as well. First of all, playing Kayle in this "meta" is an "alright" pick. Neither good, or bad. Either way, what defines a "support" these days are quite an understatement. (Like... come on I've played everything from Poppy , Teemo and even (OMG I love) Anivia support which would be considered "troll picks"; at least I'm sitting at Plat doing the same as of now) Starting off, we can view her kit: Q, being able to harass and slow, W, being able to heal and provide a speed buff, E, poke/harass, and lastly R, "sustain ult". Since she is an "AP Mage", Spell thief would be the ideal start for harass + income. What makes Kayle such an "irrelevant" pick is her primary role of being a solo laner/jungler. Losing her damage build (carry) to a support (utility/tank) suffers, but thanks to the low CD's and utility from her kit she could "become" useful.

Pros: -Annoying Late Game (Low CD Ults) -Early harass/sustain -- If runes/masteries are built properly -Can act as an individual "sub"carry -Small CC from Q (up to 55% slow) -Her passive allows her to shred enemy resistances -2-3 seconds of immunity to damage Cons: -Very Squishy -High mana cost (use wisely) -No heavy CC (Cannot engage/disengage) -Slow scaling champ (Doesn't peek well until late game) -Utility kit allows her to have low CDs, but in return lack damage -Long CD earlier in the game for R

Styles of support game play with Kayle depends on your ADC, Jungler and their Botlane as well as their Jungler; possible other factors could be roaming supports such as: Twisted Fate, Kassadin, etc.. The majority of the time you'll just be sitting there until 6, once in a while healing and/or harassing. The type of gameplay you want to play with support Kayle is a slow scaling game--which means you don't want to die a lot, you just want to (ideally) "afk farm". Although there are more "viable" champs like Morg, Janna, Annie etc. i'm not discouraging you from being a support Kayle main. If you're "good" at what you can play, I suggest you take it and develop it and make it something of your own uniqueness. It took me ~2 years to fully develop a specific rune page, mastery and skill orders to adapt to every situation for my Thresh. Hopefully it doesn't take you as long either. Sincerely, A Support Main :)

~And for all you "haters" out there, I would like to see you try climbing to Plat with supports only. :^]Teemo

My go to support: Lulu summoner 12 summoner 3

Oh the flak I get for not taking flash. But they start apologizing when I tp top to ult our top laner and turn a gank around.

Pick what you're good at. Not what people expect you to be good at. If you consistently do well then before the game is even done they'll be shutting up or going back on their words.

Just mute your team and focus on keeping them alive. Supports don't get positive recognition in solo/duo anyway, so might as well block out the hate and relish in your own awesome saves.

The first answer has a lot of truth to it.

I'll also point out why people are worried and why Kayle as a support is far from optimal:

  1. Kayle is farm dependent, she does a lot better with a higher income
  2. Kayle doesn't do much as a support outside of her ult; sure you have a slow and heal + speed buff tied together, but when you look at other supports that are currently popular, she pales in comparison
