Strong early-game champions

Hi guys!

Can you please tell me what champions have the strongest early game?

What do you guys think about:

Jungle: Amumu and Rammus. Top: Fiora and Malphite. Mid: Karthus and Brand. Supp: Morgana and Alistar.

Thanks!

a lot of the champions you picked kinda have better late games then early games.

amumu is notorious for being weak and super blue dependant early, and rammus has an issues where he's not at his most useful until he has 2 of his abilities maxed out.

fiora can be a lane bully but only in specific match ups, and malphite doesnt really do anything in lane until level 6.

karthus is like, THE late game mage with how he scales. and brand is more level dependent then anything (crazy base damages, mediocre scaling)

morgana is strong in all phases of the game, and alistar kinda scales into an unkillable front line.

all the champions you listed are strong, but i dont think of "strong early game" when i think of them.

some examples of strong early game champions would be.

jungle: Lee Sin and elise (crazy early dmg, super fast jungle clear, good duelists. they can dish out a ton of pressure in the early game)

Top: Renekton and Darius. they're lane bullies (unless they're against ranged tops) they're power spikes happen super early and they're base stats are really high early on.

Mid: Zilean. this is a weird pick and he's more or less used for his super annoying strong mid game then anything. all of his damage scaling is in 1 ability, but he's tuned to be able to deal as much damage as other mages, so he just does full level mage damage by lvl 9 (and then ceases to scale) this combined with his crazy utility makes him a strong early/mid game mage. another one is syndra, strong lane bully, gets DFG 1st (or 2nd) item and can kill almost anyone.

support: morgana and thresh: supports don't particularly fall off, as utility is always useful throughout the game, but supports who offer a lot of kill pressure early on and a lot of protection early on would be what i consider an early game support. these 2 are probably the best at it.

this is all just my opinion keep in mind.

None of those come to me as a strong early game, rather strong mid/late game.

LeeSin Riven Lucian Katarina are all good examples of champions with huge early power.

Jungle: Lee Sin, Kha'Zix, & Elise have much better early game jungle power.

Top: Fiora is a good one, but Malphite has a terrible early game. Wukong and Darius have better early game power.

Middle: Couple of low tier champions there... Then again, middle lane has never really been about raw early game power. Good middle lane picks right now would be Xerath or Orianna.

Support: Morgana and Alistar are good. Altough, Leona/Braum/Thresh all power spike at LVL 3 so be sure to look into them as well.

ADC: Nearly every ADC has a great early game...

it has more to do with how their stats scale into the late game. Karthus does have cc early on, but his damage is really weak until much later, in addition to being very fragile.

Typically early game champions start strong and then fall off later; ideally, you'll have built such a high lead that this won't matter. Some strong early game champions that haven't been mentioned yet are Pantheon (jungle or top; possibly the strongest early game champion), Xin Zhao (jungle; crazy damage and ganks early, can build into tank later), Corki (ADC; by definition, ADCs are weak early and strong late, but Corki hits a strong mid-game power peak at around level 6, which is a bit different from the late-game hypercarries like Twitch or Tristana)

Midlane: FIZZ. He has RIDICULOUS kill potential at level 2 and 3. Also, Syndra has a good early game, she's a fantastic lane bully simply due to her early game damage. I'd even say Morgana, but she isn't played mid much anymore.

Top: Jax does, or he used to, I'm not sure if he still does. He has a lot of early game power. To be honest, most top-laners in general have a good early game. At least the ones I can think of do.

Jungle: I guess Yi? Honestly most junglers aren't amazing until they hit 6. Jungle is more based on how good the player is at their ganks.

ADC: Caitlyn. Her range just outright gives her an early game advantage over most other adc's. I would maybe say Draven too, as his spinning axes can do some nice damage early game, and his passive can easily hurl him way ahead of the enemy adc in farm.

Support: Sona. Incredible burst at level 1, good heals at 2. Blitzcrank for obvious reasons.

This is all my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. You should also keep in mind that there are champions that can bully early (ie. Syndra, Karthus) and champions that are strong early game (ie. Pantheon), the difference being that one describes potential for a champion to bully, and the other describing the champion's powerspike.

Jungle: Amumu and Rammus.

Utility junglers are usually pretty weak early, however Amumu is actually pretty strong in the right situation, and scales well into late game. A lot of players overestimate how weak Amumu is; he's not exactly a Pantheon or anything, but he's not incredibly weak either.

Top: Fiora and Malphite.

I don't know much about Fiora; I played Malphite for a while, I got the feeling he was pretty weak early, you can't harass too well with Q since it costs a lot of mana. If you can use your passive well you should be alright with Malphite, but he's not exactly strong early; better examples are (again) Pantheon and (I think) J4.

Mid: Karthus and Brand.

Both can be lane bullies, I'd say Karthus is more late game and Brand more mid game though. LeBlanc is strong early-mid, you have kill potential at lvl 2 if you're good. Karma and Lulu are also strong early-mid.

Supp: Morgana and Alistar.

Morgana is good for picks, which are more for the mid-game. Her binding can do some serious work early, but I wouldn't say that's her strongest point. Alistar is vulnerable to getting poked out of lane, I'd say he's strongest in the mid-late game during teamfights. Again, Karma and Lulu are strong early-mid.

Malphite isn't strong early, he just doesn't die.

Karthus is a late-game monster with good harass, not a strong early game.

Edit: I play Viktor every now and then, and I feel that he's pretty strong early. He bullies pretty well.

Thanks alot guys! =)

Sooo, what should I look for to know if a champion has a strong early, mid or late game?

I always thought it was his CC abilities... Since they don't "change" much thought the game (like Morgana's dark binding), I thought that champions with abilities like Tristana's Rapid Fire would be better at late game ('cause in late game you would have more AD...)

Am I wrong?

Thanks again!

Thanks a lot!

Many of my games end real early (like in 15 mins my team starts talking about surrender at 20 mins) and I get unmotivated when my early game isn't very good, so I'll try some of the champs you guys said, hoping to have a better start! =)

So, I'll look for champs with high base stats/dmg, don't relly too much on their ult, one-point-wonders and champions that gain multiple abilities for each skill point.

Thanks again!

doubleguac10/20/2014, 4:54:50 PM1 votes

Gangplank has one of the strongest level 1-3 in the game, due to his insanely high base stats and brutal passive. If you're looking to all in people at level 1, Gangplank is extremely good at it.

He's also not reliant on his ult for dueling. Most of his dueling power, again, comes from his high base stats, his passive, his auto attack reset, and his massive early game heal (350 health at level 9).

Personally, I love GP, and I think he's sorely underestimated, particularly in the early/mid game. He beats almost every melee in lane if you level your oranges first.

As for champs the generally have very strong early games (some of these have already been mentioned)
