I've only tried it in customs, but from what I've seen it's actually easier to kite the monsters now.
The patience meter makes it so that you can both see the limits of where you can leash the monster to, warns you when the monster is going to start de-aggroing from you, and allows you to take monsters without accidentally resetting them if you reset their aggro too much.
Ideally, you want to take aggro from the camp, and then kite them in either a circular pattern (for buff camps and wraiths) or an elliptical pattern (for Gromp, Krugs, and Wolves, due to their low space around the camp). An alternative strategy for Krugs is to kite the big Krug around the small Krug to keep damage from the big Krug at a minimum while also taking small amounts of damage from the small Krug. This keeps the damage taken from the camp at a minimum if you do it right.
In addition, if you have any hard CC (stuns, snares, knock-ups, etc.), you want to kite the jungle monster away from you (for hard CC that isn't a snare), then use your CC and kite in the opposite direction. This gets maximum value out of the stun because you make the monster spend more time trying to get to you than without the stun.
Also, I only tested this with ranged champions. Melee champions will have a much harder time and get much less value out of kiting the jungle camps, but at the same time it balances out because Melee champions have higher base stats that allow them an easier time tanking the camps.
