Is Draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaven worth maining?

Yea, I know you can carry with any champion but I have this commitment issue. I can't main a champion more than maybe two to three months, it's usually because I find out their weaknesses or when I'm really tired of playing them or when I keep losing while playing them. I'm now maining Nami, Corki, and Graves but I'm getting real tired of Nami and Corki's playstyle now. I just feel like Draven seems pretty fun but his lack of mobility and his difficult mechanics are stopping me from playing him (yes I play mainly FoTM ADCs with mobility). I have some questions:

  1. I know he has superb early game but does he fall off late game?
  2. Should I catch my axes while chasing? I mean, axes that drops behind me making me lose sight of the target?
  3. Does Draven have any bad matchups? At all?
  4. I probably shouldn't catch my axes against Thresh or Blitzcrank... Unless I'm in a minion wave, right?

Thanks............

If you think he's fun, play him! It's as simple as that.

This is a game after all :p

Quick! Someone get Fabby! His time has come!

It takes a lot of time to get good with him, like, a lot. Im sure there will be matches where the enemy doesn't know how to play vs a draven, but it also depends on your support and how well they know how to support a draven. Hes definitely one of the best with practice, he does incredible amounts of damage very early to very late game. Hes a great pick, but he takes lots of practice. Your choice!

Draven falls off due to his handicapped range, but if you can excel early game with him you won't have a problem. I totally suggest picking him up, he's harder than Caitlyn or Jinx but very fun!

Draven is great. His laning is strong, strong damage like the likes of Graves/ Lucian and he outranges those two. If you're catching axes you get a powerful spammable movespeed buff too. He doesn't have none ult waveclear but his powerful autos help push. What is very good about Draven is his ability to snowball with all the extra money. That and his E is a very powerful CC spell for a normal ADC ability. You force trades or interupt the likes of Katarina with it.

His damage doesn't fall off if you're allowed to catch axes. If you can handle the axes.

Play champions that are fun and comfortable to you and try to have mains in more than one or two roles and this will serve you a long way. All roles have their interesting sides to them if you just give it a proper chance and use a champion that fits your playstyle.

I have played Draven a lot. If you move after you attack with spinning ax, the ax will lead your run and you will catch it if you don't change direction. Even chasing. If they are running in a strait line you will catch it every time. In team fights and chasing don't get distracting by trying to catch every ax. Instead they to have 2 axes ready before a fight. In 1v1s watch the axes but don't sacrifice too many autos for one ax. When you hit late game you will stop worrying about catching axes because you do plenty of damage. One spinning ax late game will kill half their health anyway.

Enemies with skill shots don't ever use your ax landing to time their shots. Don't even worry about it. They have so many more things to worry about then watching your ax constantly.

The only problem match ups I've had have to do with supports. Anyone than can stop your burst with cc ruins you. Focus damage first and you will wreck everything. You will out damage 90 percent of ADCs.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

  1. alot of people think he does fall off late game( at least from my experience talking to people) he does not fall off late his axes are more powerful late and he can out damage anyone, only thing is catching your q's are a bit harder late game as people will probably aim their cc where you go to catch them if you need to be focused
  2. you should catch your axes if they're in front of you for the movespeed from blood rush
  3. if i remember correctly draven does have a hard time against varus and cait because of their range other then that he out damages everyone else 4 this depends on your elo in bronze or silver you won't have to worry about it most of the time higher up you might experience problems though

also please please dont rush a shiv on draven i know to many people that do this on him he needs pure damage first rush ie.

1.dude draven (unlike his bro) is alot stronger at the late game by then you would have like 400 dmg and your q make you deal 200 more dmg and if its a crit strike then gg 2.catch axeif u have mana and they and a a slighty better ms then the enemy 3.depends on the enemy 4.when you throw your axe it always lands on where you stand or somewhere just next to it and if its gonna land where you should go then dont go.

if your really good at him sure, but matches where the support isn't doing what he needs to it can be rough. Like if you wanted to main draven season 3 was the best time, now takes a good amount of player skill. Also when you go on tilt its harder to catch axes and what not, just easier maining someone else

Majidesuka1/7/2015, 10:23:48 PM1 votes

If you commit to trades at early lvl and be able to catch his axes in an exchange, he will be able to outdmg most adc/support . From there you should have a fairly easy time to lane bully your opponents in conjunction with whatever support you have. (that is the theory though)

  1. Draven has super-high damage at all points in the game thanks to his AS-steroid and Axes (which can crit for like 2k damage late game, ouch)

  2. If you can yes, if you'll lose the target no. Apparently you can actually sorta determine (within bounds) where the axe will go with your character movements. I'm not a draven main, I don't know. The more you play him though, the better you'll get with the axes (which you need to if you want to succeed on him).

  3. Somebody with more burst than him? Corki? Lucian? Probably Caitlyn cuz she counters all. I don't think he has any match-ups that are terribad tho.

  4. Again, use your judgement with the axes. If you'll die to catch it, don't.
