How do i carry games as ADC.

Last few times i've played ADC (mostly Tristana cause shes fun now, thanks rito) i do really well but i can not for the life of me carry games, the only people i've ever been able to carry games with is MonkeyKing, Azir, Zac, Annie, and a few supports. (there's more but i've stopped playing them so it feels irreverent)

So what am i doing wrong? Do i just need to play a different ADC? Am i cursed to loose every game i play as ADC?

Need to transfer your advantage you gain in lane globally to others. If you smash lane and take turret early, push it in and take dragons, rotate to mid turret, top turret, or get deep wards in their jungle. You don't carry by getting kills, you carry by creating scenarios where you can take objectives with little to no risk.

If you kill bot lane and take the turret, use that time to tell your jungle to take dragon with you. If 4 people start roaming bot to shut you down, tell you're jungle to go push out mid or top and take a turret or two.

Kills don't matter, it's what you do in the 20-30 seconds of time you have as a 5v4 or 5v3 . Use that to gain global objectives and map vision and you will start winning a lot more trust me.

You need your team to carry you in order to carry as an adc.

If you want to carry as the ADC, you have 3 options:

  1. dominate laning phase. Get really fed and shut down the enemy bot laners. This puts you really far ahead of their bot lane and in teamfights, you should have a bigger impact and be a threat. ADCs are resposible for dealing the most dmg late game because their build is 80% dmg/dps items. Getting fed means you're accelerating your build and you should be able to dominate the enemy. This is the easiest way to carry a game.

  2. Outplay the enemy in teamfights. If you weren't able to accomplish the 1st step, then you want to maintain good farm throughout the game and avoid dying alot so you can make a big impact in teamfights. Winning multiple teamfights will give your team a huge gold lead (and maybe a level lead) over the enemy team.

  3. Take down all the enemy's turrets and inhibitors. This is much harder to accomplish because this requires that you have good rotations and map awareness. If you can accomplish this, the enemy will be stuck in their base for the remainder of super minions pushing down each lane. This frees up the rest of the objectives outside of the enemy's base for your team to take. Likewise, you can probably group up with your team to rush their base and try to end the game.

There have already been a couple of good replies about objective control, so I'll add a bit on other topics:

Rule one of playing ADC is don't die. There is a reason the enemy team will focus you first in teamfights and jump on any chance to pick you off when they think you're alone. Generally, try to not be alone. Always keep a solid front-liner between you and your enemies, kite if you don't have a fighter or tank handy, and always, always, ALWAYS ward around yourself if you are going to be alone for long, or if you are in enemy territory. I recommend upgrading your yellow trinket or picking up a blue trinket post-laning for this purpose. Buy pink and green wards when you can, too. Your support will love you for understanding that warding is a team job, and losing 100 g to a ward is better than losing gold and experience by being dead. Besides, you can't melt structures or enemy champions (from a safe distance, with an escape route) if you are watching the fight with a grey screen.

As with any other role, it's important to know your role on the team. Unless you are a fed late-game Vayne, you shouldn't be trying to 1v5 pentakill the enemy team. Instead, use your godly mechanics to push three lanes simultaneously. Yes, you heard that right (eat it, Vayne mains). Every League player, especially ADCs, should know how to manage minion waves. Keep up your farm throughout the game by clearing waves pushing against you, then turn those waves around by setting up a super wave. You can do this fairly easily by giving your minions a slight numbers advantage over the enemy minions, as by killing the caster minions, so your wave sits in one position long enough for a second wave to catch up, making it slightly stronger than the next enemy wave, and so on. If you can get this going in two lanes while the enemy champs are distracted elsewhere, you will be able to apply lane pressure in multiple lanes, allowing you to push mid or take dragon while one enemy champ has to go clear the side lanes.

As a support main, I have historically done well in-lane as an ADC, but struggle to carry that over to the rest of the game unless I am fed as Varus. I assumed I was too important to team fights to clear side lanes, and tended to go after carries in team fights as if I were playing Leona or top lane Urgot. When I accepted that Draven should not literally be center-stage in fights, I did a little better. Of course, as a support main, my advice may not be as good or applicable as that given by someone who primarily plays ADCs. Take what you will from it.

A final point: The easiest way to ruin a game is to be a jerk. Even if you think you're already pretty nice, work on making your teammates and opponents happier. Compliment them on good play (even if it involved you dying) and good warding, make unambiguous jokes when you can, and generally try to be a nice guy/gal/gender-neutral casual pronoun. Your team will be a lot more likely to listen to what you have to say if they like you, and everyone will have more fun for your good attitude. Happy farming!

if u feel adc is the carry of game its their job to carry. get that outa ur head first. ud have better chance winning when u realize ur not the only dmg source. ur not the only one who can get objective. your job is to do as much continuous dmg as possible in a team fight. rest pretty much what btheman06 said

I'd just like to point out that, except Azir, all those champions you listed literally have the opposite play stye you need necessary to "carry" as an ADC.

You are the team's primary DPS based damage dealer, and that DPS part is important because you are optimized for killing objectives during the early to mid game and killing tanks mid to late game. I like Bthemano6's advice a lot in this regard; especially if you win lane you need to translate that into early objectives. Think of it like this: If you are winning as an ADC, your team has better access to taking all objectives on the map. Take advantage of this. Tristana's really good at threatening towers thanks to her reworked E too, so I'd say she's a decent enough champion to continue using if you want to learn how to carry as an ADC.

I want to know one thing though, how quickly do you optimize for tank busting? You should at least have a Last Whisper by your 4th item for example, but I want to know what's your general build path.

It's one of those things that takes a couple games to do, you know? If you keep playing ADC for a bit, you'll carry. It's that simple.
