How do you make what you do in game more effective?

Hey there! I'm a silver V player, and I have a question for anyone up for answering.

We all have games where we're doing fine, holding our lane and having a good match. But then there's one person on the team who isn't quite so sure of him/herself and ends up going 1/15 or worse, and essentially feeds the enemies. My question for you is this: When this happens, what can you do as a player (particularly a carry) to benefit the team and make the match more balanced, or help out the struggling player and get that person fed?

IMO, once you have maybe ten kills, you are "fed" enough (depending on what champ you are playing.) Being a 50/0 carry is great, but if you are the only carry and you die, your team is screwed. I like to spread out the kills once I hit a certain point and go for assists, trying to feed those who are struggling.

Make sure above all things if you truly wish to improve, is pay attention solely to yourself. You will be bogged down if you think that players feeding is truly what affects what happens game to game.

Firstly, I don't believe that anybody at any elo will magically be able to carry (if it's a fair match. ie no smurfing) when there are 5 people on the other team more or less the same skill level as you, but now one/two of them are fed.

Secondly, this is where my advice comes in, which is not by any means easy to take in and use: Always blame yourself, there is nobody you can control in ranked and who can pull through to be that effective person in the long run more than you. There will be many games that you will lose and I strongly believe that the best skill you can have in ranked is patience.

Combining the aforementioned things will not allow you to carry a single game after a player feeds horribly, but what it will do is give you an appreciation for learning even when losing. This learnt skill will allow you to be the best Silver V in your following games and in doing so will push you up in the ranks. Be the best at your elo and you will be promoted. Ask yourself, "What could I have done better?" and there is always an answer somewhere.

Just realized I ranted way too long because that advice is something I wish somebody could I told me when I was Bronze/Silver. Sorry in advance. If you want a really straight forward and dumbed-down answer for winning a single game with a feeder(s), it can be broken done into a few broad steps:

  1. Win your lane. Push towers and relieve pressure from the rest of the map so the feeder(s) can farm and rejoin the game.
  2. Mute toxic people and only use chat for solid advice. Say no to surrenders.
  3. In your case, as a carry (I'm just going to assume marksman since mid can be covered fully with 1. and 2.), you should freeze bot lane and tell your support to roam. Having a large creep score will put you at an incredibly high advantage when it comes to compromising for your teammates.
  4. Above all else: Do not die. If you die while teammates are feeding then it's a lost cause. Make sure you make it a big deal for yourself when you die so it really gets nailed into your head.

Fun little Sp4zie video that illustrates my points with gameplay, commentary and music niceness.

Verbal Diarrhea finally stopped. Hopefully this helped you in some way.

Best of luck on the Rift, Afro

3 ways I can think of to help this situation.

  1. If your destroying your lane but the other lane is feeding request that player to wave clear while you and the jungler push your lane. It will force that other lane to react to you, and since your fed as well you should be fine, while allowing your more unskilled player freedom to farm up.
  2. Roam to that player if your lane is won, gank him, help get him back on track while your jungler holds your lane. If you won against your opponent your jungler should be able to hold.
  3. Your going even and can hold your own, request jungler to babysit lane. There is never a point where you should give up on a lane becuase that's gg then.

Sadly the only thing I figured to do when someone is 1/15 is to avoid him and never make the same decision as him. Statisticaly, he's where_the_team_will_die™ .

First off, kills only really matter for GOLD Theres still a chance of someone winning when its 20/50. The reason to that is if you can defend your base towers, ward your jungle when it's safe to do so - you can pick them off one by one, and sooner or later being able to push out your lanes. A huge factor to why people lose ranked is cause they start winning early game, and get full of themselves, start farming jungle alone, wondering off without vision to see if someone is near them or not - then getting picked off one by one - or chasing !! If you're losing a game by kills, and objectives - ward, defend, don't initiate, let the turret do most the damage, let your tank as well, APCarries, and ADCarries need to stay behind the turret further away from the team who's tower diving so that you can pick them off. When they're dead ward baron, and their jungle as well as your own, push out your lanes. Grab drag if you have enough time, but preferably only one person do it while all lanes are being pushed out. Ward the river, so that you have more vision, the more vision the more likely you'll win the game. Don't wonder out side of your base alone without vision, and don't chase for kills unless you know you can secure it and not while your lanes have been pushed to you secondary towers. (Protect them as much as you can cause if you lose those because you're greedy and want kills - cause you think it'll help you will only result in you losing the game. If you don't feel comfortable with leaving your base cause of how fast their re-spawn is, then go with your gut hold your lanes till they baron or come to your tower. Wait till their spawn times expand so that you can take their base towers. If you see them take dragon, let them there's no use for you to risk dying over a buff.. cause you're leaving your base open for attack, or being back doored.

All you can do is not die and position correctly. Sometimes you can't win those games but you should still try to play well yourself. I won games where we came back just because i played perfectly.
