Psychology of League: Introduction
Hello, my name is Madcast Fenris. In League, I've gone from Silver to Platinum in six months and play a versatility of roles. In real life, I've been studying psychology for the last few years of my life, it has become my favorite subject to research and is my current major. One of my hobbies is to take topics found in psychology and connect to any aspects of my own life. When connecting League of Legends to psychology, it was found that quite a large number of theories in psychology greatly impact player performance and by using some of these theories was able to improve my gameplay and team work.
Many members of the current League community have good mechanical and decisive potential; however, the barriers which hold these players back seem to be psychological. And so, Psychology of League is a guide being written to inform people of these barriers as well as methods to break past them in order to increase the gameplay potential of League players.
The guide will be broken up into sections. Each section will focus on a specific aspect of League then broaden into connections with certain theories of psychology, explain the effects of each aspect on the player, and ways to use the knowledge to an advantage and bring in the most improvement. The final section will be an overview of all the sections, containing the big "pieces of advice" found in each one to allow players wishing to revisit any of the information to review.
A new guide will be posted every week (sometimes faster) with the title "Psychology of League: [insert section name]" beginning tomorrow and following up every Monday. Topics to the sections include, but are not limited to:
- Placing the blame after a high reward event. (The Blame Game)
- Tilting.
- Champion Select.
- Selfish Play vs. Team Play.
- Player Mindset.
- Importance of KDA.
- Effects of First Blood.
- The Infamous Kill-Steal.
- Looking up Summoner Statistics Pre-Game.
- Dealing with AFKs.
- Attitudes towards Allies and Enemies.
Will ask that in the comments section for each post people respect one another and speak constructively.
