Help Me Understand Evelynn Itemization Please

Heya fellow summoners!

Now, Evelynn has had tons of changes and tweaks. She is obviously a pretty viable pick in Season 5 ... but I'm getting lost in all the build options. So I'd much like some experienced Evelynn players to state their thoughts on Jungle Eve's itemization. Sadly, there aren't really any up-to-date guides out there that go in-depth about the builds. How do you build your Widowmaker and why?

I've seen people play Evelynn with the item 3707 /item 3714 quite a lot. One smart option seems to be going for item 3110 and item 3155 as those items seem to be ideal for Evelynn with the stats they offer and how well they go with the ultimate shield. I barely see this, though, to be honest. Why would that be?

Another way of doing it would be to grab a tanky hp item next: item 1011 / item 3143 / item 3102 / item 2049 . And add a tanky boots choice, potentially a item 3057 for the extra burst aswell to be built into item 3025 / item 3078 late game. This would be the build choice Airwaks (of CW) is usually running and we've seen it well played on CW's Eu LCS match against SK. Some people also rush a item 3144 or item 3153 . Though the synergies with Evelynn look rather nice, it does not seem to be too strong an option or too often picked in decent elos.

Then, there's the utility Evelynn out there, too. We've seen one of the world's best junglers play Eve with Magus and an early item 3190 on the Eu LCS when Gambit faced H2K.

However, Riot's brought in the new item 3708 now. This just confuses it the more. And unless I'm much mistaken, Riot has hinted that AP Evelynn might be coming back into the game. It seems to be an almost ideal pick for Eve, to be sure. But in what kind of build?

Seeing as Evelynn's E has been changed to deal normal damage and the mpen Eve was hurt a lot by this.. would Runeglaive add enaugh magical damage to pull off an assassin-like mpen build on Eve again? Would the on-hit effect turn the best part of her E damage back into magic damage? Or could this option benefit a utility build more than anything else, such as were before played on Magus?

I could also imagine a Runeglaive into Luden build but then again, you'd need a Void with it I suppose and that does leave you rather vulnerable, especially if you should also pick up Sorcs.

Now what has actually become of Evelynn? An assassin with invisibility and burst? An offtank who just rushes some damage and then goes tanky to ravage fights? A utility tank with notable AoE slows and damages that can position stealthily and work for a vision advantage?

What do you guys make of her?

Its so gay as a top laner to meet an evelyn, because i play tanky tops like Nasus and i build defense first so i have no idea what to build, yesterday one starting building what look like a Botrk so i get a frozen heart, she then proceeds to come back with a fking item 3136 __- then i go get a cowl, she comes back with item 3072 so im like ok w.e ill just complete item 3143 for hp. After a gank later item 3116 ____-

I personally prefer an on-hit/ad build for eve. Example build: item 3710 item 3153 item 3078 item 3091 item 3117 item 3026 Wit's end and guardian angel will be replaced for other defensive items if the need arises. One of the best parts about eve is how customizable her build is. You can go Full AP, Full AD, On-hit AS, Hybrid, Tank, etc.

Depends on the game. You can go full tank after item 3707 with items like item 3143 item 3190 item 3110 . If the enemy midlaner is winning lane then item 3155 is recommended, which you can upgrade into item 3156 later on.

If you are snowballing, your build changes completely. Since evelynn is a monster early, you can pick up a lot of easy kills if your opponents do not know how to deal with you. In that case I suggest rushing one of theseitem 3078 item 3146 item 3025 item 3285 , maybe even item 3100 .

Those are all great with her. Since you deal hybrid damage, your warrior will synergize very well with your second item. I think the most versatile is item 3146, but the one that gives massive snowball potential is item 3285. Then, you build your usual tank items. Most of the time you want item 3117 , but mercs and tabi can also be considered.

item 2049 Is also a good possibility and it seems to be better with Evelynn because she has such good mobility. It is not always core because sometimes you simply do not need it. If you really do need vision for your team, it is a great buy.

She is gonna stomp early and fall off late, as usual she will go tank later. Ap > Ad

If you look through replays with Evelynn on LoLKing, you will eventually come across games where one of the more dedicated Eve mains goes full damage (either AP or AD). Use those examples as a base. The builds for AP either focus getting max CDR for DPS or picking up multipliers like item 3100 item 3146 to maximize burst. These things are coupled with prioritizing AP over MPen.

item 3115 is not uncommon for both approaches.

Whatever you do, please do not go item 3715 . Just don't. Every time I see this on Evelynn I cry. Almost every time this has been chosen in the LCS, it's resulted in a loss.

Because Evelynn got that nerf a month ago where proccing spells doesn't increase her movespeed anymore, she has no method of getting autos on people enough to justify an AD or AS build, and being far from the target doesn't help. She NEEDS this slow more than she need the true damage from her auto attacks and mini exhaust. You may need it if you're trying to gank LeBlanc or Zed or Malzahar, because they might kill you instead. But otherwise, it's not a good idea.
