Hey guys, so I never thought about taking wraiths but want to start doing it. Im wondering when is a good time to start taking it? I know i should do it between waves but as ahri taking wraiths uses a lot of manna and i lose some HP. How can i take wraiths efficiently and maybe what are some better champs that can take advantage of this?

i personaly only take wraiths when im playing a mid lane champ that cant gank very well (karhus or modekiser) and ill push the wave to the enemy tower and go farm wraiths if my jungler is cool with it

take wraiths only when :

1.) you can handle wraiths 1 v 1 without losing tons of hp

2.) when ur lane is pushed and u are scared you will be ganked.

3.) when you want to back to base and u have lil time for wraiths u can do it no problem because u will have full hp at base

never take wraiths when:

1.) ur jungler is taking them 2.) enemy is pushing ur lane 3.) u are doing baron/dragon/team fights.

There are several situations where you don't want to take Wraiths:

  1. The jungler is taking them, or is otherwise close to them and will likely take them soon. Your jungler will likely get really mad at you, and you are hurting his jungle farm.

  2. There are minions at your turret or in the center of the lane. Always prioritize minions over wraiths, as minions are worth more gold, are much more plentiful than wraiths, and keep you from taking as much damage.

  3. Look to roam and help your team pick up kills before going to wraiths. Kills are always going to be worth more than wraiths, and if you see a chance to roam and help your team pick up kills, then you definitely should go for that chance. However, some champs don't really want to roam like Karthus, and really should just stay in lane and farm, including wraiths if they are up.

Some of the better champs at taking wraiths usually have a strong form of sustained AoE damage, like Karthus, Mordekaiser, and Swain (post-6). However, the only way you are going to get away with not using any mana on the wraiths is if the champ you are playing is manaless, but keep in mind that the big wraith does in fact refund some mana and health.

what about taking enemy wraiths as Malzahar? (using Q while near the river but not in the jungle)
