Help me understand peeling please!

Hey y'all!

So i was wondering, HOW do you peel for your carries exactly? I mean usually they r squishy and say i went someone with loads of cc like thresh maybe. How do i peel off (for example) Vi and Syndra ults? How do i actually peel off to make sure my carries live??? I really feel bad when they die...

Another question is when i play a carry, if they r not peeling off right, how do i used my team to peel for me without them thinking about it? Like do i just stay behind tank? or do i sit far in the back to the right corner? left corner? maybe in a bush? basically i am asking how to live while actually dealing dmg in a team fight as a squish carry?

I am asking this because I can only play wukong and i feel so bad when i try to play some other champion because i either feed or cant help my carry live long enough to win us the game... I don't wanna play wukong forever :<

EDIT: If you like, make up any scenario with any champions you want to help me understand better! Thank you!

you have to find the opportunity to peel like when vi finishes her ult you need to as wu kong ult vi and let your adc walk away a bit. If you playing an adc you need to stay in the back and kinda far away and you do damage while kiting so you dont get in range to get one shotted so let your team soke up the cc and damage while you try and deal damage in the back. If so say they jump on you like vi or zed you need to either one use any get away so you live because in that situation your team should target their mid or adc. This is why trist, ashe, kilista, lucian, graves are good adc and are played a lot because they have good dps while having a escape. any more questions

Imagine this. You have a jinx. Jinx is good at dishing out damage as long as nobody kills her. You're in a teamfight, everyone is split into two sides. Your job as a tank/bruiser/whatever is to make sure that Zed isn't in range of killing your jinx, who SHOULD be sitting behind everyone hitting the closest target possible. To peel, just make sure everyone stays as far away as possible (Keep Zed, for instance, far enough away so he can't use R on Jinx).

As a carry, you need to think of two things, one, how much people are peeling for you and two, who do you need to be afraid of. Supports in general peel, but some don't really benefit from being next to you (Leona, etc..), so they'll dive into the middle of the fight while others like Janna, will tend to sit close to offer shields and disengage. If you have someone like a Leo who won't peel effectively, the number 2 point is important, as you need to know what abilities need to be blown to fight. Let's say enemy has a Zed, try waiting until he's used his ultimate. Let's say the enemy has a Sejuani, wait until she uses hers, you don't want to be stunned as an ADc.

Hope this helps, ask me anything or add me in-game if you want more advice.

There are thing you can't peel - long ranged abilities, for instance. You can peel Udyr, you can't peel Xerath.

To peel basically is to prevent a threatening target from getting in range to be a danger to your most valuable ally(ies).

Your potential to peel depends on your champion and your role. If you are playing Janna, clearly your peel is stronger than if you are playing Sona, and if you're playing LeBlanc, clearly your chains should be used to kill someone.

When playing a carry without peel on your team (either from comp or player skill), kite, kite, kite. Play like a scared little pussy. Items like GA, Zhonya and Scimitar help.

think of the adc as your teams mobile turret. if you stay kinda close you might win your teamfights more often. you could also practice itemization like gauntlet on support champs (a very under-rated item on supports). also practice using your active support item. personally i like talisman over fotm anyday. aegis is almost always viable. and worst comes to worst, sit on top of your adc so the enemy might misclick ON you.

One thing to note is that there is technically 2 types of peeling. 1 is direct peeling, where you are using your abilities to save a specific target. BTW Wukong is not that great at the whole peeling thing, he really is meant to dive the enemy back line, although it is not impossible to peel, just a little harder. 2 is passive peeling, where you position yourself in relation to your carry that someone does not want to fuck with them, because it is obvious they will get collapsed on and die.
