Disclaimer I am a gold player. I am by no means a pro. These are just general tips for people looking to make it through the last push to wherever they want to go.

-Comfort picks: We have all done it. Loaded up a ranked game and got smashed by a boxbox smurf. So how do we respond? Either one of two ways 1) get on to G&B or 2) play riven in our next game, because Riven is obviously more broken than her sword. In my elo, and across all lower elos, I find players picking "OP" or "FoTM" picks just because they've seen other players have success on those champions. However, playstyles vary greatly from person to person. You want to pick champions you are comfortable with, as this brings a lot of advantages that most players don't even realize, such as familiarity with the auto animation, hitbox, damage output, key positioning, and many other vital mechanics that help you get ahead of your opponent.

-Learn to get carried: This, if any, is a controversial topic, as many players hold the mentality that they need to play carry champs to climb. This is a false pretense. If you get to play a comfort champion in your comfort role, then you will probably carry, either by proxy or directly. But when you don't get the role you want, it becomes much harder to carry, and many people get frustrated because they lose games where they do not get their comfort role, thereby thinking it is the person who took their role's fault for the loss. I myself have found myself thinking this often. But then I realized that I often performed extremely poorly in these games, and we could perhaps have won if I had performed better. This brings me to my point. If you are put outside of your comfort role, just cheese. As long as you don't feed, and obtain a decent farm, chances are that your team will carry you, as they got the roles that they wanted. You don't need to win lane, you don't need to make plays. Just play safe. Buy lots of wards so you have vision as well. Safety is key when outside your comfort zone. I guarantee you that your team will carry you 7 out of 10 games.

-Don't rage: This is pretty obvious, but a lot of players get caught up in the heat of the moment. They want to win so bad that mistakes make them flip out. But you cannot change the past. If you are upset about a ban that wasn't made in draft pick, keep it to yourself. The ban phase is already a thing of the past, and cannot be changed, so don't get hung up on it. Make a mental note to ask for that ban in the future, and move on with your life. And always, if you find yourself typing more than playing the game, just mute everybody in the game, and focus on objectives.

Avoid tilt: Tilt is a common factor that really inhibits the end of season climb. Players may tilt for a variety of reasons: they feel stressed to climb quickly, they keep getting upset about games, or they just can't seem to choose the right plays. So first of all, how to stop an in-progress tilt. There's a couple of ways to do this. You could install LoL Replay and rewatch the games you're losing. No matter how well you did, there are probably 8-10 things you could have done better. Every death could have been prevented. Really look at what you may be doing wrong, be it CS or vision, and fire up a quick Custom and practice it. Another option is just to take a break. Ranked can be stressful, so take some time to play some less serious normals, or just play with some friends. Often you can stop tilt by destressing and regaining a positive attitude. Now to preventing tilt. This is very important, as once you learn how to prevent tilt you will start to climb much, much quicker. This lies in the physiological and psychological factors of you as a person when you are playing the game. Before playing, make sure you are sitting comfortably, well rested, and aren't hungry. All of the physiological factors actually inhibit your performance, even if you don't realize it. While loading into a game, formulate a plan for what you are going to do in the early game. Having a well thought out plan will help you beat your lane opponent and give you the crucial lead that may win the game. Realize that not all games can be won, and that's ok! Every game is independent of the other, so don't let your 0/10/5 get you down, as you may very well go 10/0/5 in the next game.

This is it for now, but I will update this post with more tips later in the day. If you have any tips that you feel like sharing, feel free to leave them in the comments and I will add them to the post as well. Let's work together as a community to help get everyone where they want to be :)
