How does one close out games??? Silver Player Seeking advice.

Hello Everyone.

I'm currently Silver 5. but I've climbed as high as silver 1. My Main Role(s) are Top and Jungle. i like playing beefy champions that can survive more than 1 second in a team fight lol. and have trouble closing games out, i can win my lane, take my tower and get a huge cs lead on my enemy. but i just cant close a game out. I'm not sure if it cause i don't know how or if its just silver's just don't group to end the damn game when you got a lead.

i guess what I'm wondering is if their are any advanced tips for ending games out. I've tried spit pushing, and I've created tons of pressure causing several of the enemy champions to defend, but i just die and get nothing out of it, i would be happy with sacrificing my kda if it meant my death got my team towers in other lanes, but my teammates just recall, and i die in vein. even when i beg them to pressure towers. I've tried being the tanky champions that peels for hes carries but the positioning in silver V is just to damn bad, and they get passed my peels.(Maybe I'm not good at peeling?) I've tried playing heavy damage champions that can just insta burst an enemy carry, but my jungler never picks a tanky champion to compensate, so my team has no tanks and everyones rages at me, causing me and them to play much worst.

How does one REALLY win and CLOSE out a game. When you cant teamfight. you cant splitpush. you can farm it out but everyones dying every other minute, so while you're farming your cs waves, the enemies have 10+ kills. so that is not an option.

I am sure i'm not the only one experiencing this obstacle. Can anyone from higher levels of play maybe give us lower divisions some advice on closing out games? I am completely out of ideas to smash this obstacle down. What was your solution to this wall that plagues Silver/Bronze League?

Being the tank on the team can be very frustrating, getting the team to follow up on your plays isn't always easy to do, and as a result, can make you look silly, and your teammates angry. The most important thing to closing out games is effective communication. You don't have a lot of time to type EVERYONE GET CHAMP X as you ult them, so before anything goes down say, "I am looking to jump them, if I see CHAMP X,Y, Z I am going in, BE READY TO FOLLOW" Make use of warning pings, target pings, and OMW pings as well. Talk about getting strong position on the map before taking objectives. The best way to actually carry a team in this game in its current state is good communication. I am not that much higher on the ladder anyway, as I am gold 5, but I was only able to get silver last season and communicating effectively and positively is what I would contribute to my success this season so far.

the game depends on a lot of different things really. What champ you're playing, what lane and a lot more. You can win most of your games as the "beefy" champions you like in many different ways.

In silver V most games it is super easy to pick up kills and farm well. people don't ward correctly and mechanics are not good. What I would say is to stick to 1-2 champs and play the shit out of them until you're able to really be a huge force on your team.

For instance, riven and wukong both are very strong champs right now and i see you play them in ranked. Riven is all about getting ahead early, then just really shoving your advantage.

I cant really show you how to win because its not something youre just magically told how to do, you need to understand how to do it. My advice is (you) yourself needs to gain a lead in your games to where you have some power over your lane partner. Once you have taken tower, go help mid shove that and take more towers and dragons. Don't make bad judgment calls where you die because you underestimated a situation where you could have lived. In silver, steal all the kills, don't miss CS, get big, shove towers over, and take as many map objectives as you can. I've climbed to Plat twice and both times it only took me 50 wins to do it. I would say good mechanics alone can get you to gold easily. Work on your mechanics.

my advice is dont play renekton if youre having trouble closing out games. Something I think is super fun to do is to play champs like darius, renekton, wukong, and build brut/Hydra/LW on them first three items. try it in a normal, see if you can roll over the other team early. damage helps you get more kills, take towers and cs faster and win the game.

However, you need the correct judgement and decent mechanics to win most of your games to climb. If your mechanics are okay, evaluate each time you die, or your team all dies and youre the only one up. "What could I have done there" "where should I be" "where could I have been". Think like that each time something goes wrong, you will absolutely get better. If your whole team dies, surely the enemy must be low, you could clean up or you could have been splitting taking towers.

Here's my last bit of advice before I go:

If you're really interested in climbing in ranked play champions who are strong within the current meta. People will argue day and night "it doesn't matter who you play as long as you're good at them" this is true to some extent, but sometimes these champions that don't exist within the meta take to much effort to do the same thing a champ like Vi can do. Don't make the climb hard, play easy strong champs and get to where you want to be.

Wukong is amazing right now and if you like him stick with him. the guy does huge damage and can for sure win games.

Practice him in normals, go top every game you can. Once you notice you are always winning your lane is when you're ready to climb. Keep an eye on your CS, and always pay attention to what your enemy laner is building. Abuse weaknesses and really force yourself on the other team. Take as much as you can, whenever you can, all the time.

I have found the biggest mistakes in Silver to be grouping and pushing mid and only mid. Like, even after the inhib goes down and they start respawning the team sticks around to "finish." It is MUCH more successful if you can get your team to back off, steal shit from the enemy jungle, get a baron, get another dragon, or rotate to another lane if your minions are pushing. This way, you can go spend the money you earned in your mid push and by the time you start pushing a DIFFERENT lane your super minions will be to their base. Thus, they need to dedicate one or two people to stop the super minions which makes it easy to take another tower and inhib.

I have found that the biggest mistake isn't refusing to group and finish, it's thinking that "grouping and finishing" is some easy task that only requires you to walk down mid lane.

Stopped reading. "Sacrifice" your KDA whenever it is necessary. It is meaningless.

Edit: After finishing the rest of your post, I have a few notes before the answer "but my teammates just recall, and i die in vein." Hey, well on the bright side, at least they are capitalizing for their next fight. I say, while making a defeated but ambivalent shrug. "(Maybe I'm not good at peeling?) I've tried playing heavy damage champions that can just insta burst an enemy carry, [but jungler doesn't go tank]" Most likely and shouldn't matter. If you are instantly taking down a carry you are putting your team into a serious advantage that you should be able to take advantage of, no matter what. Unless there is some detail you are not noticing.

As for "how to close out" the answer is, unfortunate for you, teamwork. It's the reason why low rank games go on for so long, it's the lack of coordination. Since your apparently doing so well, you should group with the team so you'll win some teamfights. Then you can either grab objectives to either close out the game or just keep winning teamfights, in which case your team's going to eventually gain such an advantage that you can break right through them and take whatever tower they were defending.

Play champs that scale hard into late game/team fights. Because the other team usually can't close out the game either. If you're going to play an assassin or lane bully, you'd better be able to WRECK the other team if you get fed early, because in a long game they'll catch up to you eventually.

As far as shot calling, lead by example. If good things happen whenever you show up, people are more likely to listen to you. Throw down wards like crazy, remind people about dragon (even if you're not jungling), ping objectives that are wide open, or that are being threatened by enemies or a big minion wave. And don't get pissy or start spamming pings if they won't listen. Maybe they know something you don't. Even if you are absolutely 100% sure you're right, it's usually better to work together with a suboptimal plan than to all run around doing different things and getting picked off one by one.

And while on the subject, STAY CALM and BE POSITIVE. If someone makes a mistake, don't yell at them. If they're freaking out, try to calm them down. If people are infighting, try to focus them back on the enemies. And if they go off the deep end raging, just hit mute and hope they calm down eventually. If you're an actual leader, you have to help your team work together, even if feels like being a psychotherapist at times. :-)

This is a hard one. Esentially if you win your top lane you need to apply pressure to other lanes. You can start warding their jung and take camps and deprive their jungler, you can gank mid or force a rotation to get a tower or drag. Don't overextend without vision or support since they can defend their outer turrets easier with homeguard. After you get some dragons and all the outer turrets it's time to group and stay with the team and try to ward and pick off an enemy. Force either a 5 drag scenario, use your vision to get a pick then force a 4v5 under a tower to press and advantage or Baron if you have a destroyed inhib or if the enemy jungler is dead.

BluePolarizer3/17/2015, 7:34:06 PM1 votes

The #1 way I win games is splitpushing and catching in enemy jungle. I'm no good with sieging or fair 5v5 teamfights, so I never fight those. I always signal my team to pick someone off then get an objective 5v4, or see someone is out of position on the map then force Baron or Dragon while ahead. Teamfighting is risky, especially when the enemy has AOE ults with high base damage. You don't know what will happen if your carries get caught. If you take baron while they're trying to farm or vaporize someone 5v1 you know exactly what will happen.

Unless the other team is even less coordinated than your own, there is not much you can do without your team helping.

Most of the time the easiest plan to get people to follow is "kill enemy X, go take objective Y" (e.g. Kill enemy jungler, go for dragon/baron). If your team is unable to coordinate for that, there is not much hope of getting anything else to work.
