Should I Take a Ranked Vacation?

I made the leap to ranked way too early. Could only top lane, didn't have the runes, was still fairly new to the game, etc. This effectively torpedoed my MMR, making trying to climb feel like an exercise in futility, despite me now being able to perform respectably in every spot. Haven't gotten higher than B4 56 LP, which was all a 6 win streak after promotion got me.

Lately I've sunk most of my time into practicing. Mid Monday, Top Tuesday and Thursday, Jungle Wednesday, ADC Friday, and Support Saturday and Sunday. Placed extra emphasis on CS, warding, etc. But whenever I try to play ranked, the majority of the time either champ select trolls force me to dodge or my team is so bad and boneheaded I want to put my fist through something. Like my last match, the enemy Tristana and Blitzcrank both went on 4+ kill streaks to start the match and I was essentially facing a duo lane because my lane opponent lied to his jungler, saying it was his first time GP and second time playing ranked, and so he set up permanent residence top lane. And Vi and I were the only ones not effectively suiciding every couple minutes.

Following that match, I vowed to my friend that I wouldn't play another ranked match until next season. When ranked starts causing such rage that I slam my fist on my desk as hard as I can, I don't see the point. It doesn't help that my friend, who my other friends agree I'm better than, has made it to S5 averaging 10+ deaths on all his most played champions, playing random crap like Thresh top or AP Jinx supp, and being toxic. I'll look at his match history and find tons of matches where he had nearly 20 deaths, but was clearly carried by one teammate. All the work I put in, and he lucks out all the way to S5. This may sound like sour grapes, but I've played with the guy plenty and know what he's like. My other friends and I have had to report him on more than one occasion for his antics, including for some ranked matches. Him being S5 couldn't possibly make less sense to us, so it just adds insult to injury.

And this has all got me thinking, maybe I should just play out the remainder of my 30 day IP boost, then devote most of my time after that to leveling up the second account I created not too long ago. I could have a fresh start, or at the very least something to tide me over until this season ends and the next one begins. Does this sound like a solid plan to you guys (and gals)?

Just practice your best champs until you start going on 5+ winstreaks. Then go back to ranked. At least that is what I did and im plat 5 right now. Although it is true what morbidlyobeese said about people not tryharding in normal because when I play a normal im either practicing a champ or I'm on tilt in ranked and just playing for fun.

Good luck getting out of bronze when you decide to play ranked again

Normals will make you worse at the game as many of the players doing normals are mindlessly grinding out ip. I like ranked for when I want to play serious and not have to deal with the excuse of "oh it's only a normal man calm down"

Leveling up a 2nd account won't do much. You may get lucky and place higher than you are right now, but with time you'll drop to the same or a similar place to where you are. Believe it or not, after a certain # of games, the ranked system is actually pretty good at judging your skill level.

Best way out of bronze is to play a carry champ and not trust your team. I'm spamming renekton out of bronze as we speak. godspeed my friend.

Hey man if you want I can practice with you and play games with you. I landed silver and this is my first season but I've kept my eye out on a lot of league stuff but I have that bronze mindset and get rekt. We can both improve on what we lack but it's up to you. I can help you with stuff you don't know and point you to the right direction on mistakes. I sent you a friend request.

If not, then don't get demoralized man. Losing is a part of winning. Bronze is pretty low and I was sure I was going to be bronze 5 lol but I landed silver 3. I went 6-4 in my promos but It could have easily been a 9-1 type of thing. I had trolls and a first timer takin my mid spot at one point. The other two my top and jungle just threw and fed 15 something kills each. You just have to play a role where you can carry from and make plays to make up for your team.

Practice CS, trading, and lane positioning. Try to work on your last hitting and trading the most because the more gold you got the easier the time you will have in lane. Trade when you can see it benefiting you and you taking the least possible amount of damage. In bronze positioning is bad on everyone's part so if you can work that out a little while doing well with CS you can easily get out of bronze. It's just that you have to carry your game because there are a lot of trolls and derpos in bronze. So you have to do a lot to ensure you put that fear on the enemy team. Use your team mates if you have to.

The main thing is to not let your feelings get in the way of the game. My 9th promo game went bad but not as the ones before but the important thing I want to touch on is after getting rekt that game I played my last right after. I was 7-1 in my 9th game but my team roamed my lane and pretty much caused the game to end in a loss. I was in a fk it mood but I played my last promo and I got my main role which is mid. I played the same champ and I tried to touch on my mistakes from last game. My team was more useful even though the jungle was a first timer. I kept everyone positive and didn't go out of my way for kills that would end in my death and my team being baited to theirs. I went 17-6 as Kassadin vs TF. Try to keep a positive mind set and don't rage. If other ppl make mistakes that's their problem. You have to focus on your self and your goal to carry them through that game.

so basically due to the way riot does resets you would want to raise you rank before the season ends or no matter how well you do in placements for season 6 you will end up back in low bronze, your best bet would probably be to play with someone who can help you get a better grasp of the game preferably on voice Dominican seems like a nice enough guy and would probably be able to legitimately coach you if you are willing.

ok let me explain somethings to help you out. first of all if your under bronze 1 you probably don't know how to trade, farm atleast 200 cs by 30mins(which you want to do more.). Now don't listen to the top 5 best champs to play in solo queue per lane. You need to know and learn a champion. For example chogath is really good for farming and extremely effective in in lower elo if you land multiple q knock ups then your on your way to winning the game. But the thing about chogath is that he is a simple champion. So your relatively new at the game so learning easy champions are the way to go or learning the mechanics of other champions. Tryndamere is probably one of the easiest champions to learn and all you have to do is how to cs,trade and get OBJECTIVES. Ok so before i breakdown tryndamere theres things you need to understand for example When you play tank top your relying on your team to do good so you have a good chance to win. If your team does bad and your chances of carrying depend on good follow ups but in bronze you should not expect anything. Carry top laners make the game easier. Back to tryndamere when you play this champ you have options. Take as many towers as you can, split push all day, make rotational plays if in position to do so. I have carried games where i was like 0/8/some assist i had the most turrets on our team. The worst thing that can happen is that your team feed a storm for example look at my most recent 2 game some of those games are winnable, and some are not. It all depends on your team making the right choices. If you have any futher questions about the top lane just add me i can give some pointers.
