This Is A Serious Post, Please No Trolls, Thanks For Your Help (Sorry If This Is The Wrong Place For This)

Skip to fourth paragraph for no backstory

Well I have been playing League for a long time now this is not my first account (Although i've never hit 30). It started around 2010 I went to my uncle's one day I was 10 (15 Now) I saw him playing League and had no idea what it was...I've have been playing video games for as long as i can remember started with PS2, then PS3...I was interested in playing LoL although i had barely ever played PC. So i started playing and played about two games...after getting DESTROYED i mean like i didn't know anything i would stand there with 3 cs at the end of the game going 0/20/0 but i loved it i wanted to get better. Then i stopped playing idk why but i did, A year later i got a laptop (2011) I figured i'd download it again...again i was terrible so i just gave up i just couldn't handle losing every single game...Then that laptop broke so i couldn't play anyway...Now, here i am 2015 and back into League except this time things are different idc how many games i lose i want to be the best i can be at this game, i play as much as i possibly can. I love it, but yet again i'm just not that good.

So i'm just not that good at the game and i want to continue to play but when i get in games where i am constantly getting yelled at by teammates sometimes i just feel like deleting LoL and just forgetting it. I dont want to but i dont see how i can have fun and get better at the game when i am constantly doing bad..What did you guys do to get good cause i know everyone was bad at the game at one point, what did you guys do to keep at it and continue to grind the game and become amazing???

Thank you all for the help

My #1 piece of advice for you is: Play bot games. The easiest mode of bots you can until you aren't struggling, then harder bots. Play against those bots until you crush them. Only then move on to normal games.

Your problem is that you haven't played a ton of computer games, so your base mechanics are way lower than other players. No amount of reading can fix that. Playing vs bots will give you the opportunity to learn last hitting and kiting and all that good stuff in a lower stress environment. If people are still being dicks, just mute them and have a good time. :D

If you want to learn the game watch streamers and play normal draft with a champ you are trying to learn. Then use the same information you gained from watching streams about lane match ups.

The others had good advice. I guess I'll add.

First, this game takes time to learn and if you don't have a background in PC games, you likely are going to struggle with the mechanics of using the mouse/keyboard combination. It's not exactly a natural motion pattern. (its not quite trying to rub your tummy while patting your head, but its close at times.) So don't panic if you struggle. The advice to play bot games is good. Also if you have a champ you really like don't be afraid to create a custom game where you are the only one playing. (no bot) and then go out and practice trying to get the killing hits on minions. You'll get a better idea of what your champ can do and your CS will go up. Since every minion you kill is money and money means better items as the game goes on, this can be very significant.

second, choose a champ, any champ, and play them exclusively for 15-20 games. Get to really know this one champ. What they can do. More importantly what they can't do. And how you have to adjust for different play styles and champs you might face. If you are in bot games the opposing champs don't change much, but don't be afraid of normals. Just let your team know that you are new to LoL and MOBAs (even if you played in 2010, you are new to them based on your description of your experience). A good team will try to look out for you. They do have their own game to play, but if you play carefully you should be able to avoid feeding most of the time. (sometimes you run into a smurf and there is little you can do.)

third, if you can try to find a couple friends in the game you can enter games with. Having someone more experienced means that they can offer advice and insight into your play. They also can help deflect some criticism. I recently started playing with one person who started play 2 weeks ago and really only knew a few champions. He struggles at times, but is enthusiastic like you. Recently he talked himself into getting a new champion and we entered a game together with the plan of him playing Annie as support while I was the ADC. (annie was his new champ). Unfortunately someone else called out ADC, so I agreed to go mid and warned him that the Annie player was testing out a new champ. The player was actually rather gracious about the whole thing only commenting one time when "annie" didn't realize that her spell stun was available and failed to stun an enemy champ. It was a good game for everyone involved.

Fourth, no matter how hard you try you run into those who will be abusive. I've been on the receiving end more times than I want to count, and it often puts me off using a champ for quite some time. (I've almost completely quit playing Riven because of some abuse and didn't play Elise for 2 weeks because of one bad game with her.) It's going to happen. All you can do is finish the game, say "good game" in the post-game chat and then move on. Don't argue with the players who harass you, and you can mute them if necessary. (tab to open the status window and click on the comic speech balloon to the far right of the row with the name of the abusive player.)

Finally, don't give up. YOu will improve over time and sometimes when you aren't even paying attention. The way this game works you tend to have leaps of skill improvement followed by periods where you struggle against new and better opponents before another great leap forward in skill. It's impossible to say when it will happen, but eventually things will start to click and you'll start improving.

When I was new I would play a ton of the other game modes aside from Summoner's Rift (like ARAM, Dominion, etc...) Though there are still toxic people in those modes, there is definitely less, and those modes are short and enable you to try out champions in a whole new way.

What I would recommend is unlocking champions you find to be interesting and fun and just play them in bot games until you are more comfortable at doing fun modes like Dominion! Also, try to get at least 2 fully completed rune pages, this will help you out a lot with the game!

Good luck and try to stay high above the annoying toxic people :)
