Passive adc

Hello everyone!

I've been hearing from a lot of people that I'm a passive adc. My main champion is jinx, and I know she's supposed to be a lane bully. I do poke the enemy, and try to push the lane sometimes, but I also concentrate a lot on the minions, especially in the beginning. When I get a few kills fast, I'm not scared and know I'm fed so I poke a lot and then I become aggressive and get even more kills! But as soon as I play a game, and I know that my enemy adc counters me, I get scared. I also have this issue with friends, so it's not that I don't know what the stranger support would do. But sometimes the support goes in, even though I don't know the support wants to, (mostly I just think the support is poking) and then I come in late and then I can't save the support from dying and then they start to blame me for being passive. But then I'm like, well yeah I prefer not to die so ping next time. But it's mostly the fear for the counter that holds me back. So I want to ask you guys some advice on how to deal with this. Because it's getting a little frustrating to hear this even from friends.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

As a person who mostly plays support if I'm poking I'll just dive into them and then immediately pull back. If I want to kill them I'll ping who we're going to kill and I will unload on them. Communication goes both ways. You have 1:55 to develop a strategy in game, use that time.

Jinx is not a lane bully. Corki and Lucian and Graves are lane bullies.

That said, you do need to get over the fear. Playing scared of your opponent won't ever get you ahead. You just need to play more and get a good handle on how to trade with Jinx against the other ADCs so you can stay in a threatening position without actually being engaged. Once you are confident on how to trade effectively and how to position, you should be able to join in with your support when they go in without too many issues.

Outplay the matchup. Ask for ganks if you know you can't win, and only engage when you get them. Don't feed the lane nor push too far, freeze it to farm safely. When you see your support doing stupid shit, ping them away. It's not their job to kill an enemy it's yours so if they want to kill someone tell them you will go in, not them. You won't learn if you constantly chicken out and see how you can outplay them. Losing is a great way to learn. What did you do wrong in that fight? What will you do next time against that counter?

Here's a tip.

If your support goes in, follow. If they back off, back off. This way you're there if they create kill opportunities, at the very least, both lane members charging at you is likely to give most people pause and have them back off a little.

It can also help you zone. I would say mimic your support. If they're just hanging out in the bush autoing peeps, don't sweat it. You see an ability go off (that's not nami w, because that's part of her poke, etc), you'd better be RIGHT there ready to engage.

It might also help you to play a bit of a longer ranged adc due to this as well. Jinx is strong, but not early. It might be easier to play aggressive with a strong early champ. IE , Cait, Lucian, Graves. Someone that has a huge amount of kill potential Pre 6. And then team up with a support that will have your back.

Ez. ;)

Thank you very much everyone! I'll try and do my best to work on these tips. Perhaps playing Caitlyn is a great idea! Her long range is insane, and I poke an enemy from long range! Perhaps she'll help me to become more confident in lane.

But that also means that I have to get a better look on what my support is doing? But I do agree, communication is the key to teamwork!

Levels 1-3 pretty much dictate how the lane is going to go for a very long time. You should be trying your hardest to gain an HP and wave advantage at the early levels as an ADC because this lets you gain a CS advantage going into your first item.

Being passive at this early stage will snowball. The side that loses early pressure often gives the first kill in lane, or at a minimum is the first to recall if there is no jungle pressure. As jinx you have a decent range advantage with your Q as well as tons of pushing power. You should auto the first wave a little extra to make sure that when the second wave comes you can kill it much faster than your opponent, and then use your minion and level advantage them to harass them very aggressively (or go all in if possible). This should secure you the early lane phase. Depending on how that goes you may want to stop being as aggressive and freeze the wave to punish them, or try to harass them under tower behind your creeps if they aren't low enough to freeze on.

helpful video

The best place to start on not being too passive is to train yourself to hit the enemy whenever they do damage to you to keep you HP closer to even.

the way i learned to be as aggressive as i play now(maybe to aggressive) is i played and learned the champs that you have to be aggressive with to do good (shaco, draven, teemo that kind of stuff) it might not work for you but it did for me

Here's another tip:

ADC match-ups don't matter. Support match-ups do. The only ADC that really counters anyone is Caitlyn who counters everyone, but is weaker later on and most supports can cancel her escape.

Just make sure you play around the enemy support and don't eat unnecessary poke.
