How to nuke your ELO/hidden rating/whatever MMR thing? (normal play)

Hey all.

Finally made it through to 30 this year, after countless (literally, you cannot see how many you have played.) bot (mostly FWOTD) games (also with XP bonus occasionaly/when on sale.).

I thought the idea of getting to 30 quick would be interesting, as you would have all masteries unlocked as well as many if not most runes, and lots of heroes (as well as fairly good basic understanding of the game.) - and from there, pick up your game and play against real players.

Unfortunately, now that I HAVE reached 30, I find myself almost always paired against/with people who are probably at least one, if not two divisions above me, and it makes me feel pretty bad for my team -- esp. on ARAM where I bought like a dozen new champions just before stopping playing a few months ago. .....

On top of that, you have like 15 free to play characters right now. sigh (and no matter how many LCS games you watched this spring, you've only really got to learn/see in action about 15-20 or so chars, and the rest, a lot aren't seen in bot play or played by players in those game modes. ..)

Since there's no way to voluntarily, immediately "dunk" your MMR (or at least reach your appropriate level.) in normal play, (which would probably be quite easily abused to seriously beat up new players anyway. ..) I was wondering what would be the most efficient way to do it? Play actual ranked games until you get Bronze or something, perhaps? Play champs that you usually play and purposedly lose on them? More matches in less time with shorter-game-time modes, or the inverse?

Esp. with the featured game mode right now, I'd like getting into the action, since it's Summoner's Rift (which I never personally favored, as I personally prefer shorter, faster-paced games.) without necessarily getting into all of it (crazy negative K:D:A, full-power flamethrowers, etc...)

Either way, sucks that I'm probably gonna have to lose a few dozen games almost (if not.) on purpose just to get around my actual ranking, but, oh well. At least from there I won't feel like I'm being parachuted into a warzone, lol. ..

Thanks. .~....

;D. Kennen

(of course, another option would be to read through every champ's descriptions, builds, strengths and weaknesses and memorize it by heart like it was a science degree, but, I'd rather skip that option right now. xD.....)

Once you get level 30 and play for awhile you'll notice you stop playing with new players and start playing with smurfs... Normal has its own ELO like ranked, you just have to play enough games.

ARAM has its own separate elo, Teambuilder has its own separate elo, and Dominion has its own separate ELO (I'm not sure about the new blackmarket brawler though)

First off MMR is separate based on the game mode you play. ARAM has its own MMR that is separate than Normal Summoner's rift. I know this because I keep getting placed with Gold and Plat ranked players and I generally hold my own against them. Normals MMR tries to keep things even but if you're new to the game chances are you have a Bronze mindset and the game will have to sneak in some silvers and the rare gold players into your games. Not much to do except cross your fingers and hope they're on your side and they don't have connection issues. Ranked will keep things even closer. It's SUPPOSED to keep the matches close in division (If you're Bronze V it shouldn't throw in any Silver IV or higher players in your games) and it generally keeps things close in terms of who you fight against. I don't play ranked at all so I can't say much about it.

Now way back when I was in your shoes what I did was make a new account. I made the second account prior to reaching 30 with the first account. More first wins means more efficient IP farming which means access to new champs sooner. The down side is that not all of the champs are on one account so it can get annoying to have to log out to play a specific champ but hey, you probably wouldn't have had that champ this early if you only played one account. I've been playing for a little over 2 years. I don't really use the other account much and I can say I have played every single champion at least once. This is the route I took when playing the champs anyway.

You could also youtube search the champ in question. Montages are nice but generally they have advanced mechanics/understandings of the game and are hard to comprehend early in your LoL career. Typically find some non-pro player using the champ in a full game. Usually if its uploaded its a win, so you tend to learn successful strategies. And with them being non-pros you see some newbie mistakes you may come across in your own games and see how they exploit said mistakes.

Fastest way is to just play the game. Mute everyone at the start of you're too worried about them flaming you.

It seems to me what got you into this mess is focusing on playing against Bots instead of diving into PVP sooner. Perhaps that's some advice you can pass on to your friends.

wait did you seriously only play bot matches up to level 30?
