Help me out here.

First year playing league. After i did my 10 initial ranked matches i ended up in Bronze 1 and i blamed it all on my teams. I've seen vids, read guides, read into champions, play a lot of aram every now and then to see how some champions work etc. But it seems i try so hard to get better at this game and i still seem to suck. I have learned a lot so far and i have gotten a lot better and now i know i should focus on my own play and try and improve it and not blame my team. However, i am now Bronze 3 with 0LP, out of the last 5 ranked ive played twice has someone went afk on my team. I played one with a support that didnt know they should have a sightstone and when i tell them to get it they say "buy your own wards", a top (same game) that got ganked twice but hasnt bought a single ward. Now i know this doesn't 100% of the time happen, so there is a chance i can go up the ranks, i know there is something i should be able to do, something more.

Do i simply keep playing and experimenting to get better? or can ya give me any tips you guys use, it can be anything miniscule such a having the good habit of warding behind the red/blue buff when you first start off in jg to watch out for an early invade (seen some one do this in a vid and it has safed me and got me first blood a few times). I really like league because its a game of skill and not a game where the person that spends the most money is OP af, but it can be quite a frustrating game at times. Thanks.

The top ways to get out of bronze are as follows

  1. Ward. I know you said you were warding, but try to get your team to. You should almost always have a vision ward on the map. At level nine upgrade your trinket to the yellow one, it is a free sight stone for 250 gold.
  2. Learn to CS. For every 15 cs you get it equals 1 kill, if you can cs much better than an enemy they you will win lane even without kills.
  3. Support you team, don't yell at them in chat, complement them if they do well, and tell them it will be fine if they make a mistake.
  4. Learn how to play a couple roles or champions, I only play around 10 champions, mid and support and I let my team know that. When I enter lobby I say, "mid or support"

those are the tips that I have off the top of my head, there are also a couple channels/ videos that could help you out if you want them.

There are a lot of open (free), pug (random teammates) tournaments that you can join that will allow you to play against enemies of a higher caliber. You will probably get slaughtered but that doesn't mean you can't learn something from it. I think play experience is better than spectating for most people. You can also try and get some friends of higher ranks to put together a ranked 5's team. It can be hard to learn how to judge different situations in solo queue but in ranked 5's someone can explain why it's a bad idea to fight.

Search for Riot "sponsored" tournaments if you would like to try them. http://prized.na.leagueoflegends.com/competitive/prized/browse

So I'm not a great player at this game, but I am good at knowing how to learn stuff (finishing a masters in it :D). The biggest thing I would suggest is to find something you enjoy playing. People learn easier when they are excited about something (duh, willing to put more work in right?), so playing champs you enjoy and will play consistently makes it easier to focus on what you can do to win w/ them than playing what is strong and constantly learning new stuff.

The only other thing I'd say is people advise you to play "carry" champs pretty often on the forums and in my experience you're better off playing something you like and learning how to carry w/ that. Heimer isn't a carry champ but he is my best champ bc I push towers and control objectives better than I out play my opponents. I love nunu bc he doesn't carry on his own, but I'm way better at looking at a team and identifying who plays mechanically well and getting them ahead and protecting them in team fights than I am at actually being that person my self. Play to your strengths. If you're mechanically strong, play snowbally stuff and crush people. If you're willing to learn about the game and out think people better than you out play them, play stuff that controls objectives or supports your team. You'll win easier and even if you aren't the carry of the game you'll be able to carry a team by helping them out and making bad players better. Hope that helped and good luck getting better.

It is the unfortunate truth that in reality the only thing that will help you get better is time, and a lot of time at that. You also have to be really focusing on what you did wrong, even if you are not the main reason behind your teams loss. The hardest part of that is sometimes you think that you are doing that, but you really aren't and you just further annoy yourself. The main thing I can advise you to do is don't play just to win, play to get better. and never forget
