Any actual advice for not losing faith in yourself?

Trying to get better, doing my best to rank up, really want to reach Gold, but every time i lose the series to rank up...it gradually drains my motivation and i get closer to give up. Today, the same thing happened twice, started Silver3 series, won first, lost two in a row, got back to 90 LP, two wins in a row, then two losses in a row, failed series again.

I guess i played too much, 7 matches, about 5 hours... i'm taking it too seriously, sucks all the fun from the game... Maybe i need a trick to force myself away from the game and take a break. I guess i have too much time on my hands if i can play that much.

That's your problem :)

Don't focus on winning. If you focus on winning, you're more likely to get frustrated at your teammates and yourself.

Instead, focus on enjoying the game. If you can enjoy the game, then win or lose you'll feel better, and you'll be more willing to keep playing. Keep playing enough games, and you'll climb to where your skill level is. Keep trying to improve, and you'll raise that skill level.

Focus on small goals. Set them for yourself each game. For example if you are low on cs or ward placements after a game set a goal to increase it by a small amount next game. You will be able to take pride in hitting your goals along with being able to identify shortfalls in your gameplay. After you get use to this intrinsic approach you will be focused on improving instead of winning than ranking will come naturally with your improvement.

So there's this really interesting concept to learning and I'm forgetting the name right now but it's like mastery oriented vs achievement oriented or something. Essentially, the mastery learning student is much more worried if they understand the material, and is frustrated even if they get the question right if they aren't sure they understood the process of getting to the answer. The achievement learner is worried about knowing what's on the test and if they can do well on it rather than being absorbed in the material and being happy if they learned as much as they could, even if they learned a lot that wasn't on the test and maybe did a little worse on the test bc they studied a lot that wasn't on it and missed a couple things they should have studied (but overall learned more even w/ a lower test grade).

The trick is to not be the person who is upset they got a lower test grade, and instead be the person who is happy they learned more even if it left off something on the test and they got lower marks. In season 3 and season 5 I hit gold bc I absolutely loved how a champion or two played and learned everything I could about that champion and got much better at them. In season 4 I was stuck in silver and never got out bc everything I played was something I didn't enjoy enough to push through learning on and would get frustrated when I didn't improve in terms of wins, and give up on learning instead of measuring my growth by what I improved. Personally, climbing is about learning a couple champs, and not burning out on them before you get good enough w/ them to rank up.

7 ranked matches in 5 hours sounds like the perfect way to force your brain into a burnout and pushing you into ultra-tilt territory.

The realistic side of me says if you have that much time, you should use it on something slightly more productive, like learning how to cook good food. Honestly though, you should just get used to playing casually. For every ranked game you should have a really casual normal game to let your brain cool off and relax. Don't be afraid to do something stupid like Master Yi mid or Leona Jungle to get your mind off pushing yourself 100% all the time.

Think of ranked games like exercise. You really can't just keep exercising forever, you're just going to wear yourself out and never actually get anywhere. You got to take breaks and even if you're inclined to play League anyway, you can't just play high stress ranked games constantly. Vary it up every once in a while. Get in a normal game, play Aram, buy a champ you've never considered before and just roll with them, and clear your head.

Watch Gurren Laggan, your faith will go up to the Heavens (also you will get a huge urge to play Rumble.)

Thanks everyone, pretty much what i needed to hear, that all seems like pretty good advice, and boosts my confidence a little. Just typing all this down already helped me figure out most of it, too, felt good to just tell someone, and feels even better when someone listens ^^ I'll make sure to take breaks and chill, and lot let my impulses drive me. Thanks alot
