Why do people get mad if their jungler doesn't gank every 2 minutes?

I ran into this last weekend, I was playing some norms, (either alone or with at least one friend), and many times the midlaners and toplaners would get mad when the enemy jungler ganked, but I was nowhere to be found. On one occasion, the midlaner typed into the all-chat, "My f**king jungler isn't doing anything" to which an opponent replied, "what do you expect from a master yi player?" At that point, I got a double kill on the midlaner and jungler, while i started at 2/3 HP. I don't understand why people get so upset when junglers don't gank. Is it just me, or do players need to A: have better team awareness (There are multiple ways to check teammates' health) B: better map awareness (if im taking the frog, bot lane shouldnt ask for a gank. Especially when my tp is on cd, and they are pushed up to an enemy tower), and C: a little more leniency in general? Like don't ask for a gank when i have 40 HP, and am going back to finish BORK or TF, or whatever.

its the frustration from losing and getting REKT if they werent losing, they would not even need the ganks nor would they notice that the jungler isnt ganking at all

but I get where they're coming from... they are getting rekt NOW, yup.. its happening right NOW and they need the help RIGHT THIS MOMENT, not LATER its alot to ask for but in the heat of frustration, they make unreasonable request like that

people that suck think blaming the jungler is always the reason they lose lane

People have this thought in there head that the jungle needs to gank because that's his job. Its not. Ganking is actually the least of his problems. Its the lanes job to keep lane. The main Objective of a jungle is to get objectives (Dragon so on) and ward if needed (This is a side job).

Alright, so I do think that if your teammates start saying very mean remarks, you should ignore them because generally, saying mean remarks don't help you win the game, unless its constructive criticism. Know the difference. If you tilt easily from reading other players' comments, ignoring them is even more important.

Now from an objective standpoint, the jungler is one of the most important roles in the game early on. You took smite so you have a responsibility to secure dragon buffs/baron buffs for your team. If your teammates constantly die to their enemy laners, thats their own fault. If your allies are getting ganked constantly and you're not trying to do anything in response like ganking a lane or taking dragon, then you are partially to blame. Overall, laners should invest in wards heavily to help evade ganks from the enemy. As the jungler, you need to understand your own champion's strengths and utilize that to help your team gain some type of advantage either through ganking or securing objectives. If you've farmed all day in the jungle while the enemy ganked your lanes and took dragons, you are playing the wrong role. Farming is for laners.

The main reason people get upset, in my opinion, is because they're losing lane or getting killed. Most people don't think "I shouldn't have jumped on that renekton as urgot level 1, it wasn't the best idea", they think "HOLY CRAP I'D HAVE GOT THAT KILL IF UMM SOMEONE ELSE IS AT FAULT HERE, THE JUNGLER!"

Don't get me wrong, having a good jungle presence in your lane is really nice, but I'm not going to rely on it and I'm certainly not going to accuse my own jungler of messing up when I overextend or stay at my turret with 12HP and die. It's just easier for your pride to blame someone else for not playing properly instead of being more self critical and figuring out what you could do to improve and win lane.

jungling is the strategic role on the team while laning is more mechanically oriented. it's the junglers job to create strategic advantages for his teammates, including but not limited to:

  • warding
  • ganking
  • objective control
  • proper minion wave control while laner is absent

So yes, you need to gank as a jungler. You also need to understand wave control and how you can help out your teammate when they recall, or when you get a kill to help shove or freeze their minion wave properly.

Ganking every 2 minutes? Maybe a little excessive, maybe not. It depends on your champion and how well your teammate is doing. If you can camp a lane and get your Leblanc to 3-0 then you're going to have a lot of help from her going into the midgame. It means she'll be roaming more and maybe you can soak up some of that midlane farm while she does, amongst other things.

If you aren't performing your strategic duty as a jungler, then you need to play a different role. That doesn't mean you should ignore basic tasks like farming, but it also means taking small hits on your route regularly to ensure that you're in the right places at the right time.

I understand what you mean man, after playing some Diana jungle and people asking for a hard gank while I'm level two. The entire point of the new jungle is so that ganking junglers aren't the ONLY THING we get to play. Just lemme farm a bit, we'll get a drag, then I'll come bot at six and even give your complaining self the kills.

When people are looking for how to get ahead, they're using looking in terms getting themselves ahead rather than the team as a whole (support/dedicated tanks being the exception), and the best route for them to get ahead is constant help from the jungle to make things easier. However, this may not always be the best route for the team as a whole, so the request that seems reasonable to them often isn't.

In all honesty I rarely ask for Ganks... I play like I don't have a jungler for the most part. This keeps my frustration down, and takes some of the pressure off of what is a rather difficult roll to play. I do like when the jungler gives me heads up that they are headed my way... I might be able to better position an enemy champion to maximize ganking. Pings are nice, but if you have the chance a quick "Bot/Top I'm coming your way in chat" is always appreciated.

The other thing I do is if an enemy champ is low on health, I might just shoot the Jungler a MSG like "Trynd's low at top, if you get a chance." This msg is usually after a slug fest with said Champ and I'm waiting to respawn. Jungler is one person, no way to occupy three lanes. Play like your jungler is AFK and watch as the ganks come smoothly.

I hate seeing anybody getting belittled, screamed at, "noobed" etc. I've tried jungling a handful of times, and I'm trash at it, so i have a lot of respect for the role.

Well I usually don't expect ganks from a jungler, but I will love a jungler who has map presence all over the map forever. Top lane usually don't ward/bad map awareness so there is always an open door for the enemy jungler to gank. But sometimes I get really frustrated when my jungler is just farming when the enemy jungler has already been around the map. I won't blame him if he's playing Warwick, but yeah. At least get a dragon lol, if the enemy jungler is top. I can take smite if you just want to farm, double smite can secure objectives easier. Kappa
