The formula that I use to decide upon my next champion.

This is a formula I use when buying new champions. This may not work for everyone but I've gotten quite a bit of mileage out of it.

First: I separate the champions of my choice into 2 primary categories based on what I am looking for in a champ and adjust priorities based on the formula, eg: Does champion use mana as a resource? If yes, move down, if no, bump up one level in priority. So here's the version I used when buying a 6300 champ:

*Does champion use mana as a resource?: if yes, move down, if no, bump up.

*Can champion play more than one lane?: If yes, bump up one slot, if no, move down two.

*Does champion have juking potential?: If yes, bump up two slots, if no, move down one.

*Does champion have high damage?: If high magic damage, bump up one, if high physical damage, bump up two. If neither, move down three.

*Does champion have good wave clearing?: If yes, bump up two, if no, move down three.

Using this formula, the most recent champion I purchased was: Zed.

Remember, this formula is malleable and can be adjusted to your needs.

From this I'm gonna guess you're a Yasuo/Riven player :P

Any particular reason you prioritize physical damage over magic? If it is tower taking, you should probably be more focused on AS than AD or AP.

You also seem excessively unlikely to pick anyone that might be able to support with your emphasis on damage and lack of interest in utility. I would recommend adding at least one thing for if they have utility or hard cc.

My personal list would be:

  • Resource? mana:+1 Not mana: +0 No resource: +0
  • Flex pick? Yes: +2 No: -2
  • Low skill floor? Yes: +1 No: -1
  • High skill cap? Yes: +1 No: -1
  • Can it jungle? Very well: +2 Ok: +1 Sort of: +0 No: -2
  • Is it FotM? Yes: -2 No: +1
  • Is it durable? Yes: +2 No: +0
  • Is it DPS/bursty? Yes: +1 No: +0
  • Do I enjoy playing them? Yes: +4 No: -4

I'll compare Viktor, Sion, and Trundle, some of my favorites.

  • Viktor: +11
  • Sion: +12
  • Trundle: +14

I'll compare some of my least favorite champs, Cass, Rengar, and Zilean.

  • Cass: -1
  • Rengar: -1
  • Zilean: -2

Or be like me and have a large amount of IP and buy whoever you feel like, whenever you feel.

I currently have 96k IP and just buy whatever I feel like playing.

(I went through a long timeperiod where I owned all the support champs, and all I ever played was support, so I stopped buying other champions. That's why I have so much.)

It feels like you're missing a lot of what can go into champion's power budget and performance. This is usually how I think about picking my champions:

How many lanes can they adequately fill? +1 for every lane How often can they be picked (including preference of lanes)? Often: +2 | Sometimes: +1 | Almost Never: +0 What is the flexibility of their viable builds? Very: +3 | More: +2 | Slightly: +1 | Rigid: +0 What level of reputation do they have? Zed: +2 | Kog'Maw: +1 | Soraka: +0 | Urgot: -1 What types of damage can they deal? Burst: +2 | DPS: +1 to 2 depending on potential | AoE: +1 | None: +0 Are they predominantly AD, AP, or tank? AD: +2 | AP: +1 | Tank: +1 What is their range of influence? High: +2 | Medium: +1 | Low: +0 How durable are they? Highly: +2 | More: +1 | Not: +0 What is their CC? Hard: +2 for each | Soft: +1 for each What is their utility? Healing: +3 to 2 depending on magnitude | Shield: +2 | Resistance: +1 | Steroids: +1 for approx. every 450g of stats What is their mobility? High: +3 | Medium: +2 | Some: +1 | None: +0

Using this system, I can determine that my next champion would be... Aatrox. Completely ok with this, since I've wanted to try him out. After that it's Azir, Diana, or Draven.
