Tanker boots: Tabi or Mercury?

Hi guys! Please help this non-native english speaker who likes to play with tanks (on top, jungle or support).

I'm always in doubt when it comes to choose the boots to my champ, it think that the first thing to consider is if the champ does benefits naturally from having more armour (like Taric) or not. If he doesn't, then I guess that I should consider if the opposite team has more AD or CC power, and buy the boots based on that.

So, I choose Tabi when I play against: Tryndamere, Tristana, Jax, Caitlyn, Jinx, Master Yi, Warwick and Riven.

And I choose Mercury when I play against: Amumu, Veigar, Lux, Kog'Maw and Teemo.

What do you guys think? Is there any other champion that I should put in those lists?

And when the opposite team is like Trynda top and Amumu jungle, I tend to buy Tabi, what do you guys think?

Sorry for my bad english!

First of all, your English is very good :)

Second, this is generally a good idea -- you should build based on what you need. If you're up against a team dealing a lot of magic damage, Mercury's is good. A lot of physical damage, Ninja Tabi are good.

One thing to bear in mind, however, is the Tenacity bonus on Mercury's Treads. Against a team with a lot of crowd control, it's a good idea to have that passive.

So basically, everything you've said here is pretty accurate.

Yeah, for myself, I build boots depending on what I think I'll be most frustrated over. Do they have a frustrating amount of CC? Mercs. Do they have a lot of AA and manageable CC? Tabi.

Thanks for the compliment, SlamHannigan! =) Thanks for the tips guys! Do you know any other champion that, when I go against, "requires" me to buy certain boot, like Trynda = Tabi, Amumu = Mercury?

Just pointing this out, Tabi and Mercury's raw defensive stats aren't the most gold efficient in the game.

Honestly, I'd buy based on passives.

Sounds like you have a pretty good understanding on when to buy which boots.

Before purchasing, just consider the enemy team's physical damage, magic damage, auto attack damage and crowd control.... then decide which of those four things you're most worried about. If you can't decide, tabi are a safe bet because they're cheaper and armor is more useful for tanking towers and such.
