How to recover from an invasion

So I'm not a veteran jungler and still just trying to master the basics. For the first time as a jungler I was invaded at my red and they killed me off and our support, took my red obviously. So then they had a definite lead on us especially their bot lane and jungler. I was really distressed now that I knew I was set back. I struggled to catch up and had a hard time ganking against their jungler as well. Bot lane of course was in trouble but so was mid lane. With both lanes being in trouble put me even more at unease while I'm jungling and figuring out who to gank so that we could get back in the game. We lost that game and I was absolutely irritated. So I come here asking now. How do I recover from a succesful invasion from the enemy team?

An invasion generally has 2 goals

  • Shut you down

  • Prevent you from shutting someone down or feeding someone

I assume you were on blue team since supporrt was leashing red, your support and and mid should ward the entrances to the jungle for you so you don't go through this. You won't have to write a thread about this after that.

For your sake, I will explain as best as I can as an ADC main how to recover from a loss in the jungle. You need to know first that it is not your job to win lanes, it's your job to make sure those winning lanes stay winning or they start winning.

  • Start with smaller mobs you can solo, i assume you are level 1 invaded and are level 1. Solo golems (smite)-->wolves-->blue(smite)

  • Focus on one lane, generally as a jg you have '3' value points you can spend on your lanes to decide who to gank and who not to gank, try to use your remaining points all on 1 lane to get them ahead.

  • Don't be discouraged, the invasion most likely ticked you off or threw you off. Avoid this. Stay focused, figure out on how to stay on top of it.

Hi, Plat jungle main here, I would say that your counter measure to a successful invasion would differ from the champion you play :)

If you play a tanky-initiating jungler: I would say you farm up and don't gank. Farm until you are tanky enough then start ganking. Chances are, the enemy jungler would have been ganking lanes, but as you are significantly weaker in comparison, your ganks are generally useless so use that time, instead of ganking, power farm.

If you play a farming type of jungler(if you want to stack your jungle item): Farm, Farm, Farm

If you play a squishy assassin jungler: Try to snowball a winning lane. If your top lane, for example, is winning, gank him continuosly so that he snowballs while you get the assist gold.

ALWAYS KEEP PRESSURE ON OBJECTIVES

I dunno. When I jungle, and someone invades me, I'm always like "Ohh, they took my red. Whatever, I dont really need it lawl, /continue killing and ganking" I'm not really phased by it, and it hardly ever makes a dent in my ability to gank. You just gotta not care man. Its no big deal

The entire point of an invasion is to set you behind, shut you down or throw you off your game. Have wards going up (as they should be to avoid the invasion and to be warned of enemy invading your second buff camp) If your second camp is invaded at lvl 1 and you've warded to see it, take theirs in return. You will likely be able to work in a smaller camp of theirs as well depending on who you're jungling with to make up for lost time. If the camp you're currently at is invaded at lvl 1, proper warding should have alerted you to it and a mid-laner collapsing onto you should be able to turn the tide of that fight easily and set all of you slightly ahead.
