Pre 30: Picking a Role

Low 20's, saving up IP for runes and already have a decent selection of champs to pick from. I've learned a champ or two for each position so I can fill in a pinch (or at the very least not feed), but I seem to have the most fun (and be the most use) as a jungler or a support. Between these two roles, which will be the least contested once I hit 30 and start joining ranked solo-q?

At lower ranks support is the least played, but at higher it evens out between jungle and support. Either way you should get one or the other most games.

A few years earlier no one liked to play support. Even now, it's not super common for people to call support in the lobby. I got to a decently high rank by playing only support back in the day because no one else would contest it (because of the "I want to carry" mentality), so I got really good at support.

Jungle I would expect is picked more because some people just like not having to deal with a direct enemy laner and like to farm all the time.

tl;dr no one likes support, I like it so I get what I want all the time gg ez

It seems you really like your share of abusive relationships XD OKAY THAT WAS BAD SORRY BUT jokes aside, No one really likes playing support in lower elo because it's a role where you need to rely really heavily on your teammates. A support cannot carry a game, unless you're playing tanky/damage heavy ones such as Annie, Alistar, or Leona, so playing support may not equal a good chance at winning. However, it really depends on the immediate synergy of you and your ADC. You have less than 5 minutes before the game starts to synergize (fuck, that's not a word wtf) with your ADC and really understand how they play. Not all ADC's are understanding but not all are super mean. The laning phase is really 60% of the support and 40% ADC. As a support you have to look out for them and find openings to engage or know when to disengage and get your ADC out safely. If something happens, you or the jungler will most likely be blamed and that's probably not a good thing since you like both those roles. As a jungler, it's a lot of responsibility (I hate jungling because I always have three people asking for ganks simultaneously) and many people don't like that. Others however like jungling for its solitary feel and lack of commitment to a specific lane. I think jungling is a more rewarding role in soloq because you can be what helps the ADC get fed, and you can actually have a much bigger effect on the game overall than the support. Most junglers will go for a tank build which is so important when neither your top lane or support will do it. **TL;DR: ** Jungling has a better chance of being able to carry, unlike supporting; but supporting is an easily acquired, almost guaranteed role.
