Any Morde mains willing to give advice?

So I'm thinking about maining morde and having fun with him in the 6-ish games I've played. I do have a lot of questions about morde, specifically regarding items, summoners, and playstyle. Hopefully all three morde mains will find this and be able to answer me questions.

1. Playstyle: I've played Morde 2 different ways and I've had success with him both ways (i.e. I've gotten a penta with each style).

           a. Burst: I've played him as a super bursty mage with 700+ ap and found this to be quite enjoyable. Honestly dropping your combo and getting a free pet for 30 seconds is a lot of fun and you can survive ok with your damage. However, I die a lot with this build and it can be kind of frustrating. Most of the builds I see revolve around this style of play, so is it the best one? Also, survival tips for Morde?
   
          b. Sustained damage w/ cdr: I honestly prefer playing with this build, but it doesnt seem to be seen as good as bursty  morde. I like being able to get within morde's short range and survive with people whaling on me with this playstyle and it seems to be a lot more consistent than the bursty one.
   

tl:dr Is bursty or cdr w/ survivability better?

2. Gunblade or WoTA? This is kind of part of the playstyle question but I'd figure it should be separated. The consensus seems to be gunblade for q, slow, burst, but I find myself getting better results with WoTA's cdr. Is WoTA even worth building on him or does it depend on the matchups?

3. Summoners: I'm honestly clueless on this one. I've seen ghost/flash, flash/ignite, flash/tp, flash/exhaust, and pretty much every summoner that isnt cv or clarity.

4. Technical question: I know dfg and nashor's doesn't apply iron man, but what about liandry's?
