how do you find champions you're good with?

how are you supposed to figure out who you do well with if every game has 9 random variables (your team + enemy team)? if you're an adc, how do you know if you're good with that markman, your support is good, the enemy marksman sucks, or the enemy support sucks? if you're top it comes down to whether or not your lane gets camped, if one of you counters the other, or again skill. mid, pretty much the same as top. jungling is probably a little easier to tell if you're bad, but might be hard to tell if you're good (lanes do well vs other lanes doing horribly). (feel free to correct any of this if i'm wrong in any way)

TL;DR how can you tell if you're good with a champion or you just had a good/bad matchup?

The problem with Left for Zeds comment is he uses an obvious champion ability counters champion ability to explain a bad match up. It's not that simple all across the board nor does it answer the question.

Most games are won by Mechanics and Decision Making. LUCK is not a viable variable as often times "Luck" is just you or someone else's failure in one of these 2 areas.

Take Vayne and Caitlyn for instance. This is a matchup most players who aren't D1+ completely dread. Caitlyn's range over Vayne is incredible, and It's not as simple as "oh i'll use my tumble and close the gap so she's in my auto range!" By the time you've done that you've been hit 3 times and your 1 auto trade is completely not worth, and your escape ability is gone.

However imagine this. Say Caitlyn is around a wall. As vayne, landing your condemn is a high priority. Let's say you DECIDE(Decision making) to go in. You eat her 3 autos, DODGE(Mechanics) her piltover and condemn her into the wall. You get 3 attacks and proc your silver and then back out. You will have won the trade. How do you know you will win the trade? What Zed said, EXPERIENCE.

How do you know if you're "good?" Ask yourself things like this.

  1. Do my game decisions usually lead to victory? (Decision Making)
  2. Do I frequently win lane? (Decision Making & Mechanics)
  3. Do I frequently snowball my lead (or anothers) to help achieve victory? (Decision Making)
  4. What* role* do i play in a Teamfight as X champion, did i accomplish that role? (Decision Making & Mechanics)
  5. Did I miss a skillshot? ( Mechanics)
  6. Did I* dodge* a game changing skillshot?(Mechanics)

Now to answer your question. How do you find a champion you're good with? Take me for example. I REALLY love Quinn. And i like Vayne(but not like i love quinn) Here are my answers with Quinn. 1,2,3,4,6 are YES. 5 is NO Here are my answers with Vayne. 1,2,4,5 are YES. 3,6 are NO

There is just something about Quinn that makes me a better player mechanically and decision wise. I win more games with her, I enjoy the games i play with her more, I talk about her so much I'd die if she was real and i met her in real life. However, i loved her before i was good with her, before I knew what she was truly capable of.

TL;DR: Loving your character like a soulmate, and playing the shit out of them. Also Mechanics and Decision Making.

you dont have to find a champion you are good at you find one you like and you practice with it and get good

the more experienced you are at the game you can tell what match ups are good and bad for instance playing zed into kayle. kayle is a bad match up for zed because her ultimate can completely nullify zeds.

generally when you pick up adc mechanics you can play every adc

playing with players more experienced than you can help become a better player because they can give you tips and point out things you are doing wrong right there ingame

if you are good on a certain champion you will consistently do well in games you play as that champion you will likely have 3+ K/D/A and good cs

Comes with experimenting and playing a lot of games.

Sometimes watching streamers will make you want to try certain champs because of the way that particular person plays them.

Though I agree with Left For Zed - it's easier to find a champ that you like, or that you think is cool and just playing them a lot to get good with them.

Knowing a match-up is an important part of what constitutes being good with your champion.

If you can already determine how the matchup is going to go/how it's going with solid reasoning, you're basically already halfway there.

Yep, Left for Zed has it right (again. You helpful bastard, you)

Just look for a champion that you like playing and roll with that. Doesn't matter if you are good with him/her at first. As long as you like the champ, you'll probably keep playing that champion and lo and behold, within several hundred games you should be pretty experienced with that champ!

My champions just happen to be one of the first champions I picked up and liked for particular roles. Warwick Annie Caitlyn all of them are simple champs I wanted to use to learn the basics of the game. Turns out I kept using them and now that I'm used to their playstyle they are pretty much all I play. And I'm okay with that because I really like playing them!

Trial and error. If you know how to deal with counter matchups, then you're truly good at (insert champion name).
