Selecting champions based on personal winrate? Help.

Heya. Been looking at personal winrates on specific champs lately to see who I play the best and tend to gravitate toward them. It wasn't like I didn't know that I win a lot on Twitch or anything, but just wanted the breakdown. Noticed something when I was looking through though. On a pretty similarly amount of games played I have some champions with even negative winrates. For example: I think Cait is one of the champs I play really well, but across like 22 games I have a 45% winrate with her. Should I perhaps stop playing Cait because there is obviously something I cant see that I am doing wrong that is causing me to lose games. Or can it be chalked up to solo queue madness? Halp?

No you should practise aldo winrate dont mean shit

cause if i pick heimi 10 times and win 10 times that seems pretty good

but maybe somehow i laned against yasuo 10 times and had 10 easy games...

win rates are a good point of reference but they really shouldn't be used as a deciding factor as to who you play. This is because win rates are fluctuate based on more than just the champion you choose and how you play that champion. You want to win more? Consider champion mechanics and other fundamental aspects of the game. Obviously you will want to play a champion you are consistently good at, but there are times when it is best to just avoid being counter picked or counter pick the enemy.

The real question is: What are you trying to get out of this game? Are you a ranked only player who is trying to win as much as possible because moving up a ladder makes you happy? Are you trying to just play a few normal games a day to enjoy yourself playing? Somewhere in between?

Up to a point, the more serious you want to be the most important that win rate is. Because it is clear that something about that champion and you works better than the other champs. After some point it matters less, because you should be practicing a pool of champions that are strong in their niche so you have a 'best possible pick' for each situation.

If you aren't playing to be super serious, play whatever makes you happy. If you aren't as winning with them, it just means you need some practice or maybe they just don't fit your playstyle and you will never be that good with them... But what does that matter?

If you want to measure your short-term performance with a certain champion, I suggest you look at your KDA, not your win-rate. The chance that you do well or poor in a game is much more likely to be an accurate short-term measure of performance than if your whole team does well or not. More uncertainty means more games required to have a decently reliable outcome.

Now, if your KDA with Caitlyn is bad, you shouldn't worry about your Caitlyn performance, but rather your performance as an AD botlane main. All lanes have a large set of mechanics that are not champion-related, but AD botlaners really stand out as being almost interchangeable. Usually top-tier AD players have their highest win-rate on the most meta champion, and their second highest win-rate on their favorite champion, followed up by a bunch of random orders of win-rates. Don't worry about Caitlyn, but do worry about how to play marksmen down there in botlane.

Stop picking champs you have low personal win rates on.

The only reason I still play champs that I have low personal win rates on (mostly in support or ADC roles) is because I'd feed even harder on something else. If its a champ I play for a main role like jungle or top, I'm not gonna even touch them if I lost 2 games in a row with them in ranked.

If you specifically want to improve your play on 1 champ, keep picking them regardless of win rate. I kept playing Ahri and my win rate with her went from 28% to 41% in a couple of days.

Whenever I have a matchup I don't know about, I found it useful to watch a pro player replay. I only watch the early game matchup, like the first 10 mins of the game and it's been very helpful. I specially check how the player is doing, whether he's passive or aggressive, what he builds first and try to do the same. So far it has improved my win rate.
