@Riot. Remove item RNG. And the game becomes better. Simple as that.

People have been saying this since freaking PBE, remove item RNG.

You can take your time with nerfing glacial.

You can take your time with the RNG of the champions you get.

Take your time with literally everything else.

But item RNG? That needs to change. There's no reason to have it. No reason to keep it. And every single reason to change it. A person can get a god roll and get a tier 3 Vayne super early. But with the math, SOMEONE is going to get 2-4 items and SOMEONE is just going to get screwed. Cause now that one guy that got double god rolls now has the tier 3 Vayne with a Rapidfirecannon or rageblade. ….or both.

Imagine if Summoner's Rift worked like that. Where minions have an RNG on giving you EXP. You could kill 3-4 minions and maybe get 1 exp, where the other guy kills the same amount and gets all the EXP and hits level 2 first. Could you imagine how much fun that would be? Spoilers. It wouldn't be fun. It would never be fun. And if that was the case, League would have died out years ago.

Seriously. Get rid of item RNG.

Yup. It's actually the worst thing ever. I had literally TENS of games where I didn't even get a single item on start, or games where I literally got 4 items and got crushed by a level 3 vayne with 2 rageblades in the first rounds.

Why stop at item RNG?

RNG just needs to be outright eliminated from the game mode.

I actually rage quit a match after my fourth attempt playing the damn thing.

Why?

Because I felt cheated out of actually having fun by a mother fucking goddamn RANDOM NUMBER GENRATOR!

We're talking about possible tweaks to TFT item distribution. We do believe though that significant randomness, including variation in early power, is pretty valuable for the longeivity of the game. Examples of that in other genres are things like starting hand in Magic/Hearthstone, what you draw in poker, early loot in a Battle Royale etc. Playing from positions of strength or weakness result in a wider variety of experiences.

Having said that there are some things that feel off to us at present that we're highly likely to change, likely (but not guaranteed) in 9.14. Those are:

  • Players should never finish the first 3 rounds without at least one item component dropping
  • Players should never have 6 item components from PVE after the first 3 rounds
  • Players should never get zero items from a later PVE round (Krugs onwards) if they kill everything

suggestion :

  • every mob x +/- 1 item
  • carroussel : no item on champions and a choice beetween 2 or 3 random items

Just one item every pve encounter would fix it.

If they wanted to get advanced, maybe give a choice of three items.
