Rewarded for Losing and Punished for Winning?

Honestly, why is that?

Did the creators think to themselves that this somehow justifies the amount of RNG stuffed into the game?

Did they not stop the think 'But what if players don't bother using the items given to them and just put out shit champ comps early to force early losses so that they maintain an item advantage AND gold advantage?'

Because that's literally what every player trying to win is going to do. They'll have everything they need for all the rage blades and guardian angels and spear of shojins just floating by their "little legend" while their uncoordinated and incompatible champions get destroyed for the first several rounds for bonus gold AND dibs on the carousel.

Seriously, this is not good game design. Someone ought to have known players would abuse a system that rewards people for not bothering to at least try!

People, who buy Guardian Angel but no PD are a meme and will get dominated.

you aren't really rewarded for losing

taking early hits may give you a chance to come back but usually if you are on a solid win streak you are way more likely to win the game because you are already getting good champion drops and are very likely keeping good economy

while trying to get good economy while losing means you will reach a point where you have to sacrifice your economy to stay in the game while you don't get pressured to invest your economy if you are winning if at some point you lose to someone

also the defensive options are often better than the offensive options and since chain vests and negatron cloaks are always left open the players in first place tend to become immortal

The whole point of that is so the losing people could have a chance. If they're losing and they get no gold they just have to lose.

okay. and?

players that force themselves into a loss streak are losing hp and there's no magical guarantee that they will get the champs they're looking for mid - late game. If you're not completely clueless you should have figured out a way to deal massive damage to these players.

ninjas, voids, assassins. all viable comps that deal insane amounts of damage and once you start wiping out their entire team before they defeat even 1 of yours they'll have a hard time coming back from taking 20-50 damage per round.

let me give you some math.

let's say you have a reksai, a khazix, chogath and a kassadin all rank 2.

that's 12 damage.

okay let's say you have ninjas all rank 2.

that's 15 damage.

okay. let's say you have 6 nobles. all rank 2 except kayle.

that's 18 damage.

let's pretend that you have 6 assassins

that's between 20 and 23 damage.

4 imperials all level 2 except swain?

15 damage.

the point is that if you build intelligently you can beat out your opponents because items that you earn from drafts plus good positioning skills are more than enough when combined with the right comps in order to beat out the RNG.

They don't get a gold advantage. Whenever you win a game, you get +1 gold immediately. If you lose, you get nothing until you've lost at least 2 games, then you get the same +1, but it doesn't come before interest like the win gold. You need a pretty long streak to get to +2/3 gold on a loss streak, which also means losing a lot of HP.

Carousel pick is nice and all, but it's generally still better to aim for wins from the start, because if you're on a win streak, your eco is better than it will be on a loss streak.

All the game does is give the people that start off the game behind a chance to come back into the game. If the players at the top got first carousel pick, then the game would be really awful, because the earliest part of the game would matter the most, and is also the most dependent on RNG, as some people just don't get offered a decent composition early.

As someone else pointed out, if you're losing early, you're lower on HP, and have to all in for a strong composition earlier, which kills your eco. If you're winning early, you can hold onto your gold longer.
