Hopefully this helps you, I know its a lot to read but I tried providing as many big tips as possible to help you learn the game.

**Basics: **( Important information you should know while playing the game) Your main goal is to have a team comp with as many at least 2 star champs that work with the team buffs you have (1 star champions are useless).

The cheaper the unit the more common they are, It's easier to increase the star rank of cheap champions then expensive ones.

Each champion has at least two classes, you want to try to get multiple champions of the same class to get the class's team buff.

You can't always go for the same team buffs since the champions you get in the shop will be different each time. It's like Poker, you can't always get the best thing but you have to work with what you get and make the best out of it.

The number of champions you can have in the playing field is equal to your level. For example if you are level 3, you can only have 3 champions on the playing field.

2 and 3 star champions are more useful than team buffs. You want to try and upgrade the champions you see the most in the shop, not try to go for as many team buffs as possible. There is no point of having a bunch of team buffs if your team is too weak to use them effectively.

**Tips: (Not needed information but can help a lot) **

Interest: For every 10 gold you have, you will get a stack of interest. Each stack of interest will give you extra gold. For example if you have 20 gold, you will get 2 extra gold each round. You can tell how much interest you have by the number of floating structures you have on the side of the board.

Dealing with Assassins: They can be one of the most annoying types of champions to deal with because they can jump to your back line and kill them while avoiding your front line. Assassins are programmed to jump to the furthest enemy in the back and kill them. There are a few ways to counter them.

  1. Surround you main carry in a circle of other champions (only works if you are a high level and thus can have many champions on the playing field).

  2. Put one tanky champion behind your carry making the assassin target them instead (works better in the early game).

  3. Put two tanky champions in the back left and right corners and put your carry in the middle of the board with one tank in front of your carry (Requires at least 3 tanky champions).

Having an item chart: If you have a second monitor, you should use it to see the game's item chart so you can see what you get when you combine two items and help plan ahead for the late game.

Hexes: The hexes are pretty useful but sometimes its better to have better team positioning then to put champions on the hexes that are in bad positions. For example, there may be a fire hex in the field but if it is in the very front, you should not put your main carry on it because they are still wide open to be attacked by the enemy, or if the enemy assassins keep getting to your carry then you might need to re-position your team to help deal with them.

Competing for the same champions: It's a good idea to take a look at what champions the other players are getting because everyone shares the same champion pool. What that means is if there are many players buying Maokai's there will be very few Maokais for you, the less people that are going for the champions you want, the better chance you have at getting them. Also, cheaper champions have more copies of themselves compared to higher cost champions, there are 29 copies of each tier 1 champion but tier 5 champions only have 10 copies of themselves making them much harder to improve their star rank.

Have as many buffs that fit your main carry: If there is one champion who you just keep getting in your shop non-stop, then you should go for them and try to get as many buffs that fit them. For example, if you keep getting Kog maws who is Poison/Predator, then you should also find the other champions that are Poison or Predator to give Kog maw those team buffs to maximize his potential. Don't try to go for as many team buffs as possible because there is no point if your most important champions can't use them. There's no point of getting the glacial buff when your Kog maw isn't glacial and thus can't make use of the buff.

TFT seems like a poor choice for a first game, to me (trying to be as objective as possible).

If you don't know anyone who plays League to play with, find people on boards/discord servers. That way you won't get flamed by the tryhards in normal games.

When I was new I played with my brother and his friends and when they weren't on I'd play bots. Playing bots and a few normal games (to get the feel for PvP) is really good imo.
