This seems to be something that has frustrated a lot of new players and some experienced players.
Allow me to go into detail about how to beat this particular combination pretty easily. As with all counter builds this will require some give and take on your part as you're not building to win at this point, but instead you're building to counter a specific player in hopes that they won't win. Once you've done that then you can begin to radicalize your own build into something end-game worthy.
First thing's first.
this build requires 2 completed items on Pyke. 4 item components and an uncommon unit. This is entirely feasible at any point in the game, but definitely more beneficial earlier on.
Let's go into detail about the specifics of each item component.
= 20 Damage. This item will grant any unit 20 extra damage on his or her basic attack.
= 20 mana. This item will provide 20 mana at the start of the match to any champion that uses mana in order to activate his or her ability.
simple right? 20 damage per sword. 20 mana per tear. so 40 damage on autos and 40 mana at the start of the round.
Next let's talk about Pyke himself.

Assassin = this champion deals physical critical damage mostly and can leap to the opposite side of the field at the start of a match
Pirate = this champion can potentially earn you gold.
Basic attack - 60 per 1 ⅔ seconds Mana - 50 out of 100 Ability stun time - 2 seconds Ability magic damage - 150 Armor - 25 Magic resist - 20 Range - 1 hex
How
affects
= after pyke casts his ability he gains 15% maximum mana per basic attack
this means that pyke will get 7 (normally) + 15 (shojin) per auto attack once he has used his ability. this number is increased by 15 with 2 shojins. champions also get 2 mana when receiving damage.
with 2 shojins Pyke will start with 90 mana and be allowed a free hit on an opponent during the beginning of the match due to his class as an assassin. That hit will give him 7 mana. if he takes damage twice or attacks a second time before he is killed he will stun the entire board. This activates shojin.
Since Pyke has a 2 second stun on his ability he will have enough time to auto attack 1 time for free. This will grant him 37 mana. On his second attack he will gain an additional 37 mana. now 74 mana / 100. If he attacks a third time he will earn 37 more mana which will allow him to stun with 111 mana. Rinse Repeat. Pyke's extra mana does not carry over after he completes his stun. The whole process takes 4.8 seconds to complete.
So what can you do?
Pyke has to be able to auto attack you Pyke has to have mana to use his ability Pyke is required to dive the back line at the start of the match Pyke will deal critical damage late in the game Pyke is relatively average/below average as a basic assassin.
glacials = will stun pyke if you have enough
Demons - inflicts true damage to pyke for a portion of his mana reducing his mana gains
yordles - can make pyke miss 20% - 50% of the time. This prevents pyke from gaining mana.
Hush -

prevents pyke from casting his ability if you manage to apply it fast enough.
sword breaker -

will prevent pyke from attacking or moving if applied quickly enough.

prevents criticals from hitting and that means that pyke can't earn his bonus mana when landing criticals. This reduces his mana gains by 30.
- similar to demons burns his opponent's mana causing reduced mana gains, but instead turns it into a shield
- if you put mana items on this champ he can prevent pyke from attacking a large portion of your team. Can be placed at the back to draw pyke to him and stacked with defensive items like hush, sword breaker, and phantom dancer. Can also be equipped with
and ionic spark to punish pyke for everything he does.
One important thing to remember. You dont have to do everything on this list to beat pyke. In most cases just a single well placed kassadin will be enough to remove pyke from the game. Remember that pyke is an uncommon champ meaning that he will be harder to purchase later in the game and his only benefit to a team is to grant gold early on for a pirates buff as assassin's are easily countered by phantom dancer, positioning, and a single tank.
