Possibly unpopular opinion: the RNG in TFT really isn't that bad and people are just shifting blame

Aside from item drops, which are ridiculous, the RNG in the game really isn't that bad. I am fairly certain that most of the dislike of the gamemode comes from inefficient economy management, not understanding how to min/max champ rolls, and not knowing how to play from behind. Here are a few tips that can help out.

  1. It's usually better to pick a T2 from the first carousel and snatch up a bunch of T1s in the beginning

  2. Stacking gold from interest + loss streaks is a good way to get back in the game if you get behind, as well as setting you up for first pick at the carousel.

  3. It's more efficient on gold to get to level 8 before trying to roll for T5 champs.

  4. It's way more efficient on gold to do all of your low level rolling at lower levels (you can intentionally deflate your level to keep T1 drop rates high)

  5. Some champions (mordekaiser/fiora/rek'sai for example) are not worth getting to 2 star, let alone 3 star (as of the current patch). It's more efficient to funnel gold onto a few carries for your team.

  6. If you can't find the champions you need from rolling, there is a good chance that someone else on the map is also trying to roll for those champs. Champs come from a shared pool (e.g., there are 39 of each T1 champ at the start of the game, excluding ones found in the carousel), so if two people are trying to 3 star one of the later game champions, neither of them will be able to.

Those are all the tips I can come up with off the top of my head, though there are way more.

it's you against 7 people competing with champions and builds the people that adapt the best win more the people that queue up and say i want to play void assassin ninjas today will probably be the first ones to lose

omg i didn't win once today it must be the game that is against me completely ignoring the fact that you are playing against 7 other people that also try to win

yes there is some RNG yes you can lose because of it but you arne't supposed to win every game and that is the beauty of the game if you don't like it go play LOL where the only 2 RNG mechanics left in the game are inting team mates and crit

How about that. Game give me a lot wilds, shapeshifters so i got full wild/shapeshifter/dragon/sorcerer combo with 3lvl warwick and 3 lvl nidalee, well game just tell me, i give you, take it do that. OK BUT next 25 rolls i cant even upgrade another champions to lvl 2. Is it fair in your opinion? We talk about situation when you already have FULL combo because game give you that AND other players make diffrent combos so they dont use your champions.

Strange? Accident? Nope, it does not happen often but i got situation like this in few games...

Morde and Rek Sai are both good units if you are using them in builds....especially Morde lol. Rek Sai is valuable in Bruiser builds dude(Yes in Void he's really only used for Void buff). Actually dumping gold into rerolls early is the easiest way to guarantee that you end up in the bottom half if you don't get the right rolls early because you are tanking your early economy its much better to level up unless you are stuck on a lot of T1 units getting to t3 most of the time is a luxury for early units ultimately you want to have more units available early and get your comp set up so you know what champs you want to go for and focus on them.

The only bad RNG is items. Everything else can be handled by repositioning, rethinking your strategy, taking some Ls, and working with what the pool gives you.

Champs really dont matter imo but items do and the RNG on them is just bs unfair

I'd flip this whole thing around and say that TFT has enough complexity that you can be bad at the game even if you get good RNG... but if you are amazing at the game and you get bad RNG you still lose. That is RNG. That is gambling.

Certainly there are games with RNG where players can still demonstrate excellence.. like Poker... So the question we are all struggling with is whether TFT is more like Poker or more like a slot-machine. Personally, I think it's more like a slot machine.. because 70% of how Poker overcomes RNG with Skill is bet amounts, bluffing, and folding. Imagine Poker where there was no betting, and no folding. You just dealt cards, had two rounds of strategic discards, and then everyone showed their cards to see who wins... THat feels 90% RNG to me, and that is what TFT feels like.

The reason I don't like TFT RNG, after learning the basics, and running 60+ gold economies, is that it feels like my results (win or lose) are not related to my choices as much as RNG.... When I get that awsome card drop I wanted, it doesn't feel satisfying, because I didn't do anything to make it happen, I just got lucky. Likewise, when the card I really need never drops, and I try to adapt, and I get whooped, it doesn't feel like I made a mistake in hindsight.. because the decisions I would have to change to win came before the information I needed to make those decisions.

Recurve bow way is too good. It's so good to the point that even if you get one in the first pve round, it's worth tanking your hp to get ANOTHER recurve bow in the carousel round.
