3 Star Units Are Too Consistent for How Strong They Are

In TFT 1 it was very hit or miss in getting a 3 star unit, in TFT 2 its common to see people with more than 4. It really suck losing to a person who is level 6 when you are 9 just because 4 of their 6 units are 3 starred. Losing isn't upsetting, its that Strategy is overwhelmed by pure dumb luck in rolling for a 3 Star. Like I said it used to be risky, but now you are guaranteed at least 2 of them most likely 3 of them. If you have an already strong team comp, you basically get to sit back and do nothing until final 3.

I just got a first and dominated OVER people that were using 3 stars. They aren't worth it.

It "feels" like the Gold $1 units in Set 2, are a lot stronger / more impactful than the Gold $1 units in Set 1.

I had posted a few months ago, that there didn't seem to be any point in retaining even Gold $1 units in the endgame, unless actually necessary for a critical buff, received responses concurring. (For example, building assassins? Ditch even the Gold Kha'zix, in Set 1.) In set 2, this does not seem to be the case, and a properly built Gold Diana has carried me to the last round more than once.

Although, this could also be a by-product of the changed damage scaling, I suppose...

The other thing - if one does not accelerate one's level, then acquiring Gold $1 and even $2 units is not too difficult. (I just fought somebody with TWO Gold Ivern on the board, and he was working on a third...) Beating them with a strong 9 comp is not too difficult, if your team is built solidly in the first place. Besides, you have a much better chance of getting a Gold $3 unit at lvl 9, which again, properly built and supported, should beat a 6-comp full of Gold $1- and $2- units.

I just did this and I have pictures.

I get first place, and I rarely have any gold units.

Pushing to high levels can overcome this strategy, when well-executed. Silver $4 and $5 units are better than Gold $1 and even Gold $2 units. Having a 9 comp with more and stronger synergies, and including Silver $4 and $5 units, should beat the 6 comp focused on Gold $1 units.

Really need to hold ground and push to lvl 8 to get the good stuff, usually, though.

Yeah, I just checked... I got 1st place twice in my last 4 matches (different account). I had 1 Gold $3 unit in the 1st one, and no Gold units at all in the second. I beat teams with multiple Gold units in both matches. They were close games for sure. They would have to be, since I was eco/losing hard until level 7 or 8. Doesn't always work - sometimes I come in 2nd or 3rd, usually losing to a stacked Olaf. (Sometimes, I just have rotten luck and it REALLY doesn't work, but I'm not a very good player, apparently.)

But as far as strength of the team, what I described, is stronger. The Silver 9 comp with $4 and $5 carries will beat the Gold 6-comp with $1 and $2 carries. (I try to get double 6 buffs.)

Look the patch notes. Riot decided to make Golds stronger. Which is a bad decision. A Gold $1 unit is worth only $5 for a reason. It's not supposed to be stronger than a Silver $4 or $5 unit.

If there is an opportunity to make a Gold $3 unit (NOT VEIGAR) then make that one the carry with stacking, then it's probably a good move.
