Something TFT Really Needs: A Proper Tutorial

So I've been playing for a while and there are some things that are still clear as mud.

Somehow you have people with full Level 2 (or even a Level 3 sprinkled in), 40+ gold and three full items before the first round of PvP begins, while I'm barely able to rub two coins together to get any usable combination of three Level 1s with MAYBE one item (and not even a completed one).

I'm obviously not understanding something about how all this works.

I've tried watching a few "pro" videos but they're always "Look how I broke this game apart!!!!1" without really explaining what they are doing and it feels like there needs to be some in-game explanation for why the mechanics function in the capacity they do, what rewards you with better item drops/champion rolls, and some baseline strats for the less clear aspects of the game.

A proper Tutorial Mode that can walk you through these things seems like it could help with that a lot and I'm hoping that one is in the works for when this mode comes out of beta.

I mean... there's guides and videos all over the internet. Just like regular league.

League doesn't have any guides on all the champions or all the rules. Just gives you a tiny little crash course on a few basic principles and expects you to learn the rest.

TFT does the same thing. Hit the little ? button on the top of the screen. Tells you the jist of things. Leaves you to figure out the rest. I'd never played any game like this at all before, and I pretty much figured most things out by the 3rd or 4th game. Its not that complicated.

Step 1: Keep a theme in mind.

Choose something like "Void".

Step 2: Conserve

There's literally no reason to refresh the champions in the beginning. It doesn't matter if you don't get a good roll- save your money early. WHY? Because if you lose matches early on, there hasn't been enough gold spent on armies for these armies to really even hurt you. Take the early blows if you have to. Buy champions you need when they appear on the roll.

Step 3: Plan ahead

You have a theme, now you want to know where it's going. Void/ Assassin maybe? You have Kha'Zix so let's do it.

Step 4: Play to your strengths

Learn the item build paths ahead of time and this step will be much easier. Let's continue the Void/Assassin theme. You have Kassadin, Kha, and Rek'Sai. You want Zed for the instant Ninja, and that's planning ahead. It also might be a good idea to make Kass an Assassin, and really abuse Kassadins ability with a Phantom Dancer and Rageblade on top of it. This is playing to strengths Kassadin is amazing if you can get him attacking quick, making him an Assassin gives you the Assassin tree, and removes his aggro, Rageblade will stack while hes free of aggro and when he gets aggro the phantom dancer will do its trick.

Say you went Noble/ Marksman.. Lucian is a good strength- Phantom Dancer, Warmongs You went Demon/ Sorceror.. Make Varus a Sorceror, give him Morelenomicon and Archangels and watch your enemies burn

Step 5: Observe

Watch your opponents and what they're buying. What items are laying around. What items have been finished? Predict what they might be going for. And also be aware of where their champions are being placed. Placement is huge.

Step 6: Learn and Master

Just play the game and get the hang of what's happening out there.
